ROME – The Alfa Romeo Giulia possible rival sedans Audi? To assess the impact expects to see the range and while tip sul’ibrido plug-in, which will soon also in the Q7 range, while the first electric car will arrive in 2018 with the launch of the Audi e-tron Quattro Concept and the ‘arrival on German motorways of 400 charging stations. Of this and much more has spoken at the Frankfurt Motor Show Audi AG board member and global head of sales and marketing Luca De Meo with the Italian press.

The Giulia De Meo saw her for the first time at the show and when asked if he will be a competitor responds: ” Much depends on the variety they have. Certainly the Quadrifoglio is a very niche model. We between Audi S4 and R4 sell about 80,000 cars ”. They say they are ordering many Giulia in Germany? ” A lot of how many? ”, Smiles De Meo, who does not believe, however, that ” the German consumer jumps easily on the first news ”. The head of marketing Audi is much more talkative on electric mobility. The House of the Four Rings has unveiled at the world premiere of the Audi e-tron Quattro Concept, 100% electric car that can travel 500 km on one charge, which emphasizes De Meo, ” is a bit ‘the matrix of that which it will be launched in 2018 ”, which, however, ” the final name has not yet been chosen because we do not know how to place it ”. Before 2018 instead only plug-in hybrid because ” the cost of electric technology, the performance of the car and infrastructure development are still not acceptable. ” We’d already said 2-3 years ago – recalls De Meo -: until 2020 we do not see an alternative to plug-in hybrid technology. Meanwhile we launched the A3 e-tron on the European market and we have been working on the network to specialize the dealer. Then we made a trade policy aimed at protecting the residual value, not pushing then the volumes. And now in Europe our residual value and volume for the plug-in hybrid are higher than those of the electric car competition. I think at the end in a year we will do about 17,000 plug-in hybrid cars in Europe. And now we are preparing to launch them in the US and China ”. ” In the meantime – adds De Meo – come on the market and the Q7 diesel-tron. And we will bring the plug-in hybrid on most of our models ”. Q1 instead ” will come to the end of 2016 ”, but for now here e-tron is not talked about.

At the same Audi working on pure electric. In addition to the launch of the Audi e-tron Quattro Concept, 2018 ” Germany has pledged to build 400 stations from 150 kilowatts to charge on German motorways. And with 400 supercharger loading the car in half an hour ”, says De Meo. But in addition to infrastructure development is still a crucial issue to be resolved for the market penetration of 100% electric mobility: the creation of an international standard for charging sockets. And the same goes for the cars to autonomous driving. Even here ” technology is already quite advanced, but can not be said – said De Meo – no international legislation, a sort of new Highway Code to regulate circulation. Even our cars are well ahead with assisted driving and a good jump we’ll do with the new A8. But what we call autonomous driving is a technology that allows you to be able to wait at least 10 seconds before you can get your hands on the wheel ”. On the rail connected, instead, ” you have to push ” says De Meo, that the competition of technology giants like Apple, Google or Microsoft, ” of which babbles ”, puts forward the possibility that they can focus more on capturing data and the advertising business, while ” we make machines and we just want to make them more attractive and comfortable for our customers ”.
