The virtual glove instead of the mouse and 4 other technological innovations – Bergamo Post

1) Goodbye mouse and keyboard, comes the glove virtual

We are used in computing the sudden succession of technologies, devices often last only a few years and was then replaced with devices more functional. The mouse and keyboard instead, except for some structural changes took place over the years, remain the peripheral insertion of excellence for each computer, and also the technology Touch has so far not found a viable alternative to replace them .

Some people, however, is trying to oust these two cornerstones of computer science, with a device called Gest and is currently ordered by a campaign launched a few weeks on Kickstarter. It is a glove virtual, able to detect any movement of our hand, transforming it into an action on our computer, thanks to a software processing in real time. The budget required 100 thousand dollars has already been almost doubled and the first deliveries will take place in November 2016, but if you want to book it already offers for the basic version start at $ 99. The uses are potentially many, developers said they also aim to optimize the use of Gest also with graphics programs like Photoshop and 3D modeling.

2) See through walls, now is possible thanks to the Wi-Fi

Researchers at MIT in Boston, after years of research and experiments, have found ways to exploit the technology of wireless networks to see things not visible and people to the naked eye, or hidden from walls and furniture. RF-Capture, the name of the technology tested in recent months, is able to detect an image of a person hidden behind thick walls or other obstacles, such as libraries or beliefs. It is able to recognize individual persons with a margin of error of about 10 percent on a sample of 15 persons previously stored, not yet very precise, but in any case already sophisticated enough to be used in the home.

The device sends signals wireless that are able to penetrate walls but reflect human bodies: the data are then analyzed by very complex algorithms, combining the silhouette of a person present in the Database . It can also detect if the subject is moving and it deciphers gesture control, this can be useful in case of assistance, for example in case of illness, or to control certain functions of home automation. Even the gaming companies and the manufacturers of films remain the door to monitor developments of RF-Capture, which could eventually be used just for the cinema and video games.

3) first jetpack on the market from next year

The dream of flying is recurrent in every man and so far have not created any device able to really “fly” a single person. It is now 35 years that engineers working on the construction of a jetpack functional and safe, worthy of the best James Bond movies, and finally it seems that they succeeded. The Martin Jetpack is made of carbon fiber and aluminum, but does not use the classic rockets that are often seen in action films, as they are considered too powerful but difficult to control.

The means is provided instead two propellers, as a small helicopter or a drone, has a 2-liter engine and can raise a human of 120 pounds in the air, but is also provided with a parachute in case of accidents or failures. The first tests date back to 2011 but a newer version was recently presented at the Paris Airshow and is able to fly for more than half an hour at a speed of 74 km h. Drivers can reach the height of 1000 meters with vertical takeoff and landing, this means that roofs, gardens and parks will all be valid launch platforms.

The makers however do not consider it an expensive toy for very rich, but imagine a more social, such as for emergency services of hospitals. The device goes on sale in the second half of 2016 to the remarkable figure of 150 thousand dollars, but we are certain that in the future there will be further developments. The Chinese aerospace company Kuang-Chi Science has invested in Martin Aircraft, manufacturer of the Martin Jetpack, as many as 50 million dollars, acquiring 50%.

4) The headphones that fit ear boom is on Kickstarter

 Earphones

The technology accessories wearable are often valued for their aesthetic or for their function, but what is often forgotten is that, as a shirt or a pair of pants, a device must first of all comfortable in contact with our body. Earphones such as exist in many price ranges, from budget to those that cost hundreds of euro, and the main difference, in addition to materials of construction, is mainly the sound quality. But sometimes it happens that even the most powerful headset does not fit perfectly to your ears, the feet are too big or too small, come out from the ear in the most unwanted or enter with difficulty.

A team of Canadian boys thought then to invent a particular set of earphones that can adapt to each ear, through the use of a completely new material. Once inserted into the ear, the ear is shaped perfectly adhering to the ear, but also is able to “forget” the shape and to be re-adapted to the ear for an infinite number of times. The “modeling” takes about a minute, then, once you find the perfect shape, the earphones are controlled by bluetooth our smartphone and are also able to manage different levels of sound insulation.

The response of investors has been extraordinary, have so far been collected almost 700 thousand dollars instead of the required 100 thousand on the Kickstarter campaign, and it is a truly amazing when you consider that it is of earphones that will cost about $ 300 to the public.

5) The lamp that helps insomniacs

 light sleep >

The everyday life is increasingly hectic so often, despite the fatigue, many happen to struggle to get to sleep at night, also because of constant exposure to illuminated displays of computer and smartphone . To solve this problem was invented SleepCogni, which should be sold by June 2016: it is a sort of lamp that, according to its creators, should help you get to sleep due to a mix and light sounds. It is designed to build a relaxing atmosphere that allows its users to reach 50 beats per minute, you need to sleep, and is in fact equipped with a sensor to be connected to the finger.

The strategy used by SpeepCogni changes in a personalized way, depending on the subject, the environment, the background noise and the lighting of the room. The process of relax is through the short light pulses, followed by shades of neutral color and relaxing music, once you reach sleep, the device slowly comes into standby and it can also be programmed to handle the next awakening. Aesthetically it is not very reassuring, but its creators say the device works, and has been clinically proven in the Sheffield Hallam University. The results are encouraging, it was shown that in people who have used it has improved the quality of sleep by 50 percent and 40 percent of the time.
