Milan hub of innovation: the area of the capital joined the Brianza … – Il Sole 24 Ore

The Milan Post Expo is a Meccano to build. The individual elements, however, are already arranged on the table. There is – in its present cohesive strength – based on the medium-tech manufacturing. And there is the prospect of neo-industry. The medium tech is at the same time the framework of full membership and the nervous system of deep connection with the European economy. The new industry is what economists inspired German and councilors of manufacturing back to the White House defines Industry 4.0. A gradual evolution together and breaking, can establish a new link between the city-world and the national systems on the one hand and, on the other hand, the real news of globalized capitalism: the gradual formation in Global Value Chains of parts infinitely more nobles of the other, where the industry is in liquid strategies, immaterial processes and explosive in the generation of added value. One thing that is – and will increasingly be – a difference for those living and working, studies and plans in one place or another in the world.

According to research carried out by the Chamber of Commerce Milan on data from the European Patent Office, 25.5% of Italian patent applications came from the area Milan-Monza-Brianza. In the city of Milan they were deposited 2,290 of 9,361 national patents. Despite being the region with the highest density of science and technology, Lombardy is however still far from the numbers (awesome) of Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg.
