What changes with the new tires?

The passing of the baton Bridgestone-Michelin is not the only change concerns the tires, which increase in size, with the diameter that passes from 16.5 to 17 inches. There thus approaches to the standard road even if the tires MotoGP – of course – will remain a mirage for series production. To be decisive, however, it will be not so much the size which will increase the range of about 6 millimeters, but rather it will be the philosophy and the construction technique Michelin. This will result in changes in the set-up and in the distribution of the weights and of course it will modify the footprint on the ground that, in turn, determines handling and performance of different compounds according to the temperature of the tire.

The other new

Under hulls But there are other news: a larger tank for the factory, which can count on two liters of gasoline in most (ranging from 20 to 22 liters) and also the number of engines usable during the year increases from 5 to 7 (for the open decreases: in 2015 the maximum number was 12).

The brain of the MotoGP in 2016 will be the same for all the electronic control unit Magneti Marelli and the software only for all the teams already frozen from 1 July. The only concession is a sensor free choice of each team . Each new technological advance and according to the new regulation will in fact be made available to other teams (with a price and delivery dates). All sensors except one that every house will keep “secret”. The MotoGP take even a few pounds, the minimum weight allowed passing from 153 to 157kg.
