Lumiere: the lights and shadows of San Gimignano – The Citizen online

San Gimignano. Lumière tells a dreamlike view of the city through the suggestions created by the lights and shadows, in contrast, reveal a city dream and dreamer, reaching out to new technological and artistic. The streets and squares will be pervaded by the night sounds of the forest floor, strange figures protrude from the windows or backyards of homes, leaving the visitors a sense of indefiniteness, between imagination and reality, suspended.

The Cathedral will stage two performances of live art Andrea Montagnani will show a work of interpretation of medieval miniatures linked to the cycle of the months and the seasons, thanks to a visual map and Alessio Trillini (aka Alt ) illustrate the sonnets of Folgore from San Gimignano recited by a narrator, with the art of light drawing .

St. Augustine’s Square will be dedicated to children , which will show their natural creativity in enchanted forest and characters that inhabit it , recreated games between light and shadow. The enchanted forest and many of the effects along the way will be made by the lighting designer Claudia Tabbi .

Sunday, December 6 to 19 The church of St. Augustine notes reverberate with Christmas Lux Nativitas a concert by the polyphonic choirs Senesi and the Polyphonic Choir of San Gimignano and directed by Raffaele Puccianti Antonio Morelli .

September photographic light brushstroke and Raft of Medusa of Thèodore Géricault sprout from various points of the city and will be the exclusive location of second edition of the talent show on photography Ph Contest . The format, directed by Mauritius Panicucci , starring the photographers will compete shots of image in a competition based on light and shadow and exceptionally for the event will involve photography enthusiasts, bringing them closer to the technique of light brush stroke.

The play of light and shade offered by Lumiere transform San Gimignano in a film set night: during the event, the director Paul Welcome students Film Production Laboratory of the University of Florence will resume some moments of the event to turn a documentary film of San Gimignano.

The event is part of the series of events “It happens in the winter” and San Gimignano is made by the CCA and sponsored by the City of San Gimignano with the contribution of Estra : input gratuito.

The program Lumière 2015:

Port St. Matthew and the Porta San Giovanni The city gates will be the doors of perception that lead you from light to the darkness, and from there, to dream. Some silhouettes signal the entry into the world of light and shadows, immersed in light and fog. The streets will be covered with a black carpet and along the way you’ll meet natural shadows and strange figures, the night sounds of the forest floor will keep you entertained in the indefiniteness between imagination and reality, suspended.

Via San Giovanni A moonlight will accompany the photographic sets prepared at the church of San Francesco. Looking up at the tower and the arch of Cugnanesi Becci, you’ll notice the shadows that will spy.

Piazza della Cisterna A light will invest well, revealing an interpretation of the Raft of the Medusa by Théodore Géricault, the set of Ph Contest, and will cast shadows on the Devil’s Tower.

Piazza del Duomo The facade of the cathedral will be interpreted with the visual map Andrea Montagnani and performance light drawing Alessio Trillini. In the background, the narrator of the sonnets of Folgore from San Gimignano and the sweet sounds of a flute.

Piazza delle Erbe The square in front of the Cathedral will host a magic lantern, the matrix of all modern narratives.

Via San Matteo How to Via San Giovanni, you will find photo shoots positioned in front of the church of St. Bartolo and Don Grassini in the square just before the Porta San Matteo.

Piazza Sant’Agostino The square will the place of fantasy and fun for the kids with an enchanted forest and the characters that inhabit it, especially at night.
