Jovanotti starts from Rimini with the tour arenas
Two and a half hours of songs from the overwhelming rhythm with sounds of rock and funk
Jovanotti (real name: Lorenzo Cherubini) on stage at the indoor stadium of Rimini
“Spaceships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, lightning strikes that make people crazy, empty grocery bags carried by the wind, barking dogs in all languages without any accent … “: these are the first words sung by Jovanotti in the new concert, which debuts tonight from the sport center of Rimini for a tour that will take him to Italy and all in a beautiful piece of Europe.
Images of cosmic apocalypse and daily (the song is And you have not seen anything yet , album Lorenzo 2015 CC ), which emerge from the darkness in which he wanted to immerse the beginning of his fall show, completely different from what this summer has toured the country in the stadiums of the ball. The songs are always about thirty, the total duration of two hours and (almost) half, but the lineup has changed dramatically, the logic of the show overturned: the center of the show are now the songs, and pictures do not tell the story more – as was the case in the stadiums – at best complement and help the reading of the songs themselves.
Behind the group (divided into two, on the one hand the rhythm section, bass, drums, percussion; the other the horn section, keyboards and guitars), a shield crossed by a V ( more for Vittoria that for Vendetta), forward, the stage is prolonged with a walkway that extends in the shape of a trapezium and which is in fact a LED screen and is the novelty of the technological-spectacular significant.
There is a nice long section almost acoustic, with People of the night treated as the classic that has become a part where Jovanotti back and dj It is installed on the mixer’s increasingly important sound engineer Pinaxa (presented at the beginning as a member of the band, and had never been seen before in a rock concert facility like this) and ‘plays’ (and sings) Falla turn , Move Move , Attaccami la spina , but the sound turns decisively towards the funky, as also reveal Wanna Be Starting Something Michael Jackson Thriller , the only cover of the night, and the final bathrobe over her shoulders, wide open quotation of James Brown.
The funk is music that has grown Jovanotti, and brought him out from the clubs adolescence arenas of maturity, but the choice is inevitably also political: is style music and struggle, in seventies and eighties was the soundtrack of a liberation movement from the darkness of the times and now seems to be the perfect soundtrack for this time of sadness and fear. Lorenzo will certainly have made his choices before the events in Paris, but sometimes pop happen to be prophetic.
