BMW 1 Series and 6 Series MY 2015, head-tail high class Bavarian … – Motorionline

While waiting for the new generation of 7 Series , BMW boasts an entry level and a super premium that tickle the imagination of car enthusiasts. The alpha and omega , the beginning and the end (waiting for the flagship). BMW 1 Series MY 2015 – Let’s start from the model of entry, or from the new BMW 1 Series . This model has not been revolutionized, but also back to the origins of the range. The aggressive and sporty verve that characterized the first generation, and that was a bit ‘lost in the following versions, is back with renewed strength in this model year 2015 . Let’s start first of all by design and in particular by the frontal area, which was undoubtedly the most altered . The traditional double kidney grille has been made more prominent, thanks to the reduction of the slats and the magnification of the same, by buying more “evil” the entire car. A feeling which is further emphasized by the new headlights , renewed both on the front and on the back. In the first case we have the new LED daytime running lights as standard and in general a new design in four circles. On the back, in turn, come the new units LED with the characteristic shape of a “L”. In general the external body has been redefined, over and in the revolutions. We are indeed talking about a facelift, not of a real new generation, but even so the work of designers Bavarian is undoubtedly appreciate. Naturally interior remain the high level , while not touching the tips of the sisters more elaborate (especially the 6 Series which will be discussed shortly). The materials are soft to the touch and in many cases also beautiful to the eye. The model tested the dashboard is decorated with panels with brushed metal effect and as the black areas are still made of soft rubber, you never get the feeling of having to deal with a car of the lower level.

About” screams “premium, starting from technological equipment of the car . The Series 1 can equip all the ConnectedDrive , including the ever popular infotainment system iDrive with 6.5-inch display, according to this writer one of the best software industry at present on the market. Besides that you can enjoy facilities such as the system map update via OTA , or “On The Air”, thanks to wireless connectivity provided as a subscription service by the German company. This also allows you to receive traffic information in real time, all the more crucial in a modern infotainment. If we add the adaptive cruise control, the Stop & Go, emergency braking and park assist automatically, then we realize we are faced with a car that was able to adjust the shot fairly effectively . The interior, finally, may be further refined through the various packages available (Advantage, Urban Line, Sport Line and M-Sport Package), which improve both the standard equipment that materials on board.

At this point, however, we must recognize that they have a little ‘prevaricated. The most important of all, in fact, is found under the hood, where are to debut the new three-cylinder engines of BMW . There are three models available in this sense, two diesel and two petrol. Diesels are all by united under the model 116d, but also available with EfficientDynamics technology . In the latter case the engine from 116 hp presents official fuel consumption by 3.4 liters / 100 km and emissions of 89 g / km of CO2. Even without the technology ED, however, the 1 Series gets along pretty well, consuming 3.6 liters / 100 km and emitting just 96 g / km of CO2. Interesting, however, is also the petrol: we speak of a unit of 109 hp, capable of consumption of 5 liters / 100 km and emissions of 116 g / km. Complete the offer the traditional four-cylinder, three diesel and three petrol . The former are mounted on the model 118d with 150 hp, the 190 hp 120d and 125d of 224 hp. The station, however, we find them on the 136 bhp 118i, the 120i and the 125i with 177 hp from 218 hp. All controlled by a manual six-speed transmission as standard or as an option for the automatic 8-speed Steptronic (not available on the three-cylinder models), which thanks to the connection with the GPS navigator promises to be able to calibrate optimally the management of relations on the basis of the path followed. Do not think, however, that BMW if it is forgotten. God forbid that the M Division is neglected and excluded from the new 1 Series contrary, since the new BMW M135i promises to be a real gem. His heart is a six-cylinder 326 hp , which can take from 0 to 100 in 4.7 seconds and is available with four-wheel drive xDrive. A real “dragon” in its sector, despite the very challenging price of € 48,500. Of course the basic versions are much more affordable, with three doors that starts from € 23,100 and the five-door from € 23,900, in antrambi cases with the 116i model (the 116d starts at 26,000 € ).

For these prices we will have in hand car that is definitely his name. The 1 Series has always been a car a little ‘”atypical” in the offer Bavarian, who for years has accustomed us to the premium segment of cars of a certain level. is an entry model in the true sense of the word, but is able to maintain despite all the charm and elegance of much higher segment cars. We could not try the 116d model, then its new three-cylinder diesel-powered. We got off the car definitely satisfied: we speak of an engine with good elasticity and excellent power management. For the moment we could not try consumption in a realistic manner, but for how the car is performing, we believe that the official data of the house are not a utopia, net of style and driving conditions. There are as always the various driving modes, namely Comfort, Eco Pro and Sport. The latter is perhaps the only one who left us a little ‘bitter taste in the mouth: the performance and response of the engine significantly improves, but not in a too sharp. In this particular case, the Sport mode looks more like a “quirk” that a real feature of the car. Moreover, the 1 Series wants to be more sporting soul, but beyond the M135i, has never been a car to take to the track. Its dimensions were unchanged, and its look is dramatically improved. If we add the revolution of the three cylinders , then we are dealing with a model with an excellent quality / price ratio and the prestige of all time.

BMW Series 6 MY 2015 – Waiting for the arrival of the new 7 Series (scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show in autumn), when is the BMW 6 Series the top gamma updated most recently in offering elite. If the Series 1 had to do with a good car, but it was only a model of entry into the Bavarian world, here we have the makings of a potential champion. Available as always in versions coupe, cabrio and GranCoupé (one of our test), the new 6 Series is a veritable ode to luxury. The latest generation of 2011 has shipped more than 85,000 units and for a car that, inevitably, never drops below a card from € 84,000, it is a result of very high profile. In particular GranCoupé has collected many appreciations, representing the end almost half of total orders in the range. With this model year 2015, we have taken another step forward.

Let’s look: in this case the double kidney grille has been redesigned . It is now more muscular and aggressive, with the blades rose from 10 to 9. The bumpers are a new air intake, no longer divided and very enlarged. The headlights now Full LED series, have been enriched with an attractive chrome frame and now have a new configuration . Also changed the side mirrors, which now also fit the lights are on. The real strength of this car, however, is technology. The engines available are three, two petrol and one diesel . The first two are the TwinPower Turbo V8 from 450 hp and 650 Nm of 650i , and the variant “quieter” (so to speak) of the TwinPower Turbo with 320 hp and 450 Nm of model 340i . In our test we were able to get their hands on the model 640d, however, equipped with a six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo with 313 hp of power and 630 Nm of torque, enhanced with the M-Sport package. We can almost say that the only way to make more aggressive this car is only the M6 , with which one really reaches its peak. Under its hood is a 4.4 liter V8, capable of a maximum output of 560 hp and torque of 680 Nm already available from a speed of 1,500 RPM . With such a heart the maximum speed could only be electronically limited to 250 km / h, but with the addition of the Competition Package is possible to raise the roaring 575 hp and touch a peak of 306 km / h.

Even the 313 hp version with M-Sport package But certainly we do not disrespect. We are dealing with a unit really well thought out, that can really give a deeper meaning to the expression “driving pleasure”. The sound is incredible , does not look like that of a gas, but it is above all the shot to impress: no overtaking can be a problem. The steering is very precise control over power is truly amazing. After all we are talking about with the flagship brand of the Ethics, so we would certainly have expected nothing less. The environment of the highest class and a motor that literally purring like a cat are the main ingredients of a car that is at the top of its category. We can also think of say too much, saying that in terms of driving pleasure, the 6 Series can also gamble with his older sister, perhaps the most exclusive and elegant, but with less aggression and verve sports.

Sure , both good things and you pay a lot. A lot of quality, however, amply justifies € 84,000 requested for the coupe version, model “entry level” range (so to speak). For the popular GranCoupé go up to € 86,000, while the convertible are asked for € 93,350. With the M version, however, it goes directly to the lists of the supercar: the M6 ​​coupe costs € 133,400, the GranCoupé instead € 138,100 and, finally, for the M6 ​​cabrio should we pay well € 141,400. This car, however, is really what you pay for. Elegance and sportsmanship as rarely seen, even in this same segment .
