Much depends on the study of the IoT and Big Data solutions

Big Data, Dimension Data, sports

The Tour de France 2016 has interesting technological innovations thanks largely to Big Data and Analytics. The main novelty is the Race Center, web-based application hosted on the cloud platform Dimension Data and developed in partnership with A.S.O. that combines data, videos, photos and social media feeds and live commentary of the race with a new real-time tracking website to offer viewers a new digital experience even more engaging than the traditional television coverage. Race Center will become the digital hub of A.S.O. for this and future Tour de France.

The public may thus benefit from more comprehensive and accurate information relating to each of the 198 riders of 22 teams, including speed, distance between cyclists, the composition of the competition groups, speed and direction of the wind, as well as weather conditions.

Many of the new technologies that have been tested in the past year are now ready and to which many significant improvements across the board. This year, under the saddles of each rider they were installed telemetry sensors that allow a real-time data transmission with a range of coverage tenfold. This will ensure better quality of data for communication and continuity of the most consistent information during the race.
