on Saturday, at the Centro Sportivo Plebiscito ended the 8th edition of the international tournament Tennis Europe under-12 Padua, where they triumphed Giammarco Gandolfi and Pedestrian Giorgia , giving in the gold of the tournament two Italian champions. In the event ended, we had the pleasure of interviewing the young manager of the tournament Beatrice Maria Barbiero , to draw up a balance sheet on the issue just finished:

The final budget it is definitely very good, both from a technical perspective and organizationally, because despite the rain that frightened us not a little we were able to finish the tournament on Saturday as scheduled, without ever stop any of the days of play. This is due to the fact that the 2001 Team operates numerous plants, so we got to giostrarci well: even the head judge Aniello Santonicola was keen to emphasize this strength. To improve the organization, this year I made use of external arbitrators, or Maria Vincenza Mastronardi and Massimo Rigoni , which have actively collaborated from prequalificazioni, giving a hand to the judge Aniello Santonicola field and in relations with the players; so this year we have added an extra note of professionalism. Aniello was perfect in the organization of the tournament, it has always been firm even at times when there was excitement because of the rain and we had to distribute the match in the various circles, has never pressured, has always been very proactive . “

what about the level of the tournament participants, are you satisfied?
from the qualitative point of view, maybe this is one of the few years in i can say with certainty that the Italian level is really high, we are competitive, the boys are set well, as pointed out during the ceremony also Giampaolo Coppo , technical director of our 2001 Team Tennis Academy, the difference main of these guys is that once the good players they had only one good blow, but now they are complete, they know all-around play, are aggressive, know how to defend. This year we had a little ‘a “parts” of delegations. Poorly, like last year, Canada and Australia, who have obviously changed the programming of youth tournaments. In boards has been strong the presence of players from France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Romania, who had already participated in previous editions, but we had the new entry of Morocco, Slovakia and Belgium in the male. In the women’s draw, there were some new features such as the presence of the Slovenian delegation and the Ukrainian, a Mexican and a player of Cameroon in the qualifiers. As for the participants, including Italians we can rejoice to have been on the list the best athletes of the moment.

What is the strong point of the tournament and what other prospects for improvement may be implemented in future?
I think one of the fundamental strengths of the tournament is just the kind of event: maybe we are not the Roland Garros of those under 12 (I mean, in the forest) level, but what about the ‘staging areas, the management of the player’s desk and the players we arrange everything as an ITF, making the boys feel so real professionals, as it should be. Since we still managed by a young staff (besides me and my father employees are all very young, including many of the Academy players), all the guys are always in a very familiar and playful environment: I think it is very important to link with the other participants and with the staff. In short, I think is a fair balance between professionalism and familiarity with the players, in which you create a slightly different environment from other tournaments. There are lots of things you can do to improve, because we can become even more professional, maybe from a staff over-fed or fitting out differently fields … something new you can always enter, especially from a technological point of view, to as we introduce the live scores; counting that this year was the new app Tennis Europe which allowed to follow the matches live.

How do you handle a full hospitality at the tournament for all players? Where do you find the economic resources?
It ‘s definitely very challenging economic, especially since the hospitality includes room and board for all players in the main draw, both single and double, including the board of consolation , for official national coach … in the end, there are so many persons: 64 players more, at a minimum, 7 official coach for at least three days. We have partners who in part “sponsor” the event, so the Hotel Al Pino Verde, nearby hotel, or the Centro Sportivo Plebiscito restaurant, then Wilson for the balls, and the Australian as technical sponsor for the Algida the set up of camps. Obviously help also comes from the Italian Tennis Federation and a small helping hand from the City of Padua. But the main sponsor is always the organizer, the 2001 team that manages sports facilities around the Northeast and organizing, through Plebiscito (sporting expression of the management company) the tournament. Obviously we’d like to find a big sponsor type Lantech, who sponsored the women’s water polo team of A1 series (champions of Italy for the second consecutive year, ed), who wants to put their name to the initiative, however, it is difficult.

the tournament is the driving force for your 2001 Team Tennis Academy?
Definitely, many athletes who participated in the Tennis Europe tournaments from us then they were contacted in order to have a base “Italian” training during the European tournament tour, or even to make a few months of intensive training like the pros … especially foreign players. There are currently at the Academy for intensive stages of an Argentine n.600 ATP, a young man under 16 Russian and shortly there will come a Romanian top 50 of the rankings Tennis Europe U16. At the Tennis Europe joins, this year, another international event: a male ITF $ 25,000 August 13 to 20, which will take place at the c.s. 2000, and will complete the international offering of events in 2001 Team. “

How satisfying leave a tournament like that in those who organized?
I on my part have happy because maybe it was the first year in which all parents and kids have thanked all the staff because they have found really good. I never tire of reiterating that our strength is the friendly family atmosphere, to see the guys play against in the game and then jump into paddle or squash or table tennis until evening instead of going back to the hotel, see them have fun and live life the circle was a great emotion, and they remember their parents also because this year I received a lot of thanks by those who did not expect, perhaps by someone who came and went wary via

overjoyed. “It’s time for special thanks …
i want to thank all the judge staff, the judges chair Maura Branzoni and Michele Borchia , in addition to parents, players, the guys from the player’s desk, the maintenance of the fields, the stringer, the staff of teachers with in the first Gianpaolo Coppo , and as rightly recalled Giammarco Gandolfi during the awards, thanks to the bar staff who served us in all these days! And a final thanks to my father, Gianfranco Maria Barbiero , director of the 2001 Academy Team, who helped me in critical moments, and the federal technical Luca Sbrascini with which I He had a great time and managed to best the boys (really educatissimi) Team Italy. A thank you quote also the teacher of Georgia Pedestrian, Alexander Chimirri .
