Regional trains, 32 cameras
for commuter safety

the novelty of Trenitalia for local trains. Will be introduced on ‘people counter’ to count exactly who and Losers

VENEZIA Regional trains Trenitalia have a novelty: cameras and monitors for the dissemination of images “live ‘and’ people counter ‘to calculate exactly the passengers climbed and descended at each station. From Wednesday, June 15, a total of three in Veneto convoys, overall first in Europe, they can boast these particular technological devices. Each train is equipped with 22 monitors to 32 cameras that transmit live images: a first in offering a more peaceful trip, which also becomes a deterrent to thieves and vandals. In fact, their presence has already served, in recent weeks, to identify the perpetrators of some vandalism and thus allow law enforcement agencies to track down and stop them.

Another important new is the introduction of ‘people counter’ means a device which, through special sensors on the entrance doors, allows you to calculate the exact number of passengers and climbed off the train during its entire run. This will allow to gain useful information to plan better the supply of services: number of races and train capacity. The technological revolution undertaken by Trenitalia concerns at this stage all Taf fleet of Veneto, but it is expected its spread on other convoys destined for commuters. The installation program requires the completion of work on all trains in late October. The total investment is about 4.7 million Euros. To use them will be nearly 30 thousand passengers, traveling every day on the lines of the Veneto. Software and on-board equipment are the result of Italian mold technologies developed in collaboration with the Almaviva society, particularly active in Italy in the field of transport and logistics.
