We sail in an open sea and often unknown. Novelli Ulysses we worry in the waves of an unstoppable evolutionary progress when even the labor market knows deep changes generated by the web 2.0, and interdependence.

The impact of these changes unfold patchy and at different speeds. For some places, for some cities with “factories” of knowledge, the dissemination of new technologies mean growth in labor demand, more productivity, more jobs and higher incomes. For other places with no knowledge production centers, new technologies have the opposite effect: unemployment and declining wages. We are facing an unprecedented redistribution and progressive acceleration of work, occupations, population, wealth. And the cause is always the same: the interdependence generated by the networks.

So far the technology introduction into enterprises was more like mere process innovation, often with loss of jobs. Now, however, we are in a new phase. The technology does not take the place of workers but it changes the way you work.

It’s the smart working. The spatial and temporal boundaries break down and reform of new coordinates, dissolve and multiply the evolutionary sphere of a new job, an agile work places or without borders. The working smart is the new elementary brick of capitalism 2.0. It is not the same work in a factory, in a university research center, or at home in front of a laptop or iPad. It is not a question of form, is the result to be different. In smart working, the horizon is that of the production of knowledge, innovation permanently, enhancement of technological processes, even of the simplest. And not that the permanence in the workplace, time standardized and linked wage.

A different way of working that is no longer tied to a physical space and at set times. But only to our mind and our ability to connect. Farewell to the desk: to work just any device and an internet connection. The office is where we are. In fact, the office is us.

The person working on a smart logic saves time, working in an environment less stressful and less noisy, is more motivated and, in the logic of an overall time management, it is much more productive. That’s why the smart working numbers are the photograph of his success. In 2015, 17% of the Italian company launched smart working projects, more than double the 8% in 2014. The revolution has infected a bit ‘all: banks, food companies, big telecoms, municipalities, provinces, cosmetic companies.

But telecommuting and flexible schedules are just the first step in the new era of working smart. And the best is yet to come. The new government’s draft bill clarifies the features: smart working should not be penalized in any way, and should enjoy all the tax rights, and economic contributions of those who perform the same job in the office. Therefore, no longer fixed workplace but greater involvement and accountability but above all more flexible Trai time work commitments and private life. All resources of time, human and financial that companies can make available to other strategic assets for growth and development.

It works harder and you have even more free time. Also because a fair balance of the times of life and work results in lower rates of absenteeism or late at work. A real time management of intellectual capitalists or entrepreneurs from their intellectual capacity.
