The trust supports consumption: Christmas gifts 6.3 billion – The Republic

Among the buyers of the last hour – says the study – there is a large group (34%) of total laggards, that do not He has not bought anything yet. 31%, however, has already bought some of the budgeted gifts, but spending on average less than 30% of the budget that had been reserved for this use. The tendency of the Italian gift ‘last-minute’ is not new. 79% of retailers expect it from this weekend (45%) and in the week before Christmas (32%) the maximum influx of customers. The majority will pay by credit card or ATM: nearly 7 in 10 say traders to have a POS, and 61% of those who own one indicates that electronic transactions are now between 25% and 50% of the total.

As I said, the food and wine are in first place among the Christmas gifts this year, with 77% of the vote. In second place there are books (55%), clothing (52%), toys (46%), perfumes and cosmetics (40%), technology (30%), appliances and furniture (15%), travel (15%), vouchers (11%), jewelry (10%), caskets-holiday (9%), car, motorcycle and scooter (5%). And among the tech gifts audio-video, telephone, television and computer, continue to dominate the smartphone (54%), followed by tablets and phablet (28%), ebook readers (22%), ultra hd televisions (8%) and video game consoles (13%).

Under the tree there will be surprises, first of all for children (43%), among books (17%), clothing (15% ), games once (11%), technological games (10%), toy trains, dolls and machines (9%), construction (7%), board games (7%).
