2016 the year of virtual reality – ANSA.it

Virtual reality, drones and autonomous vehicles are no longer relegated to science fiction but peep into reality and judging by the amount of experiments and prospects market will be the technological fronts for which 2016 will be the year of change. For the first barometer of the sector it is almost: in two weeks the consumer electronics fair of the CES (6-9 January) will shine the spotlight on all the new features that will trend. Among the hottest sectors is that of virtual reality. For the CTA, the association that organizes the fair, 2016 will mark the launch of the market for viewers.

What the ending year was the year of the first beginnings – with Gear VR Samsung and “low cost” Cardboard Google – but in the first half of next year will come from the other Oculus Rift Facebook and the Lives of HTC. The latter has recently been shifted the market launch of its viewer to April 2016 promising “big news” that its CES will showcase the inauguration of an area dedicated exclusively to virtual reality.

At the same time the market rate increases the space for electric vehicles and autonomous. The CES is becoming an auto show in miniature thanks to manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Chrysler, GM, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes, Toyota. The alliance between Google and Ford to build cars without driver is the latest of the “rumors” that should find official on stage, while one of the most anticipated keynote is that Volkswagen will present a new concept electric car, the microbus.

Also waiting for start-up in California Faraday Futures for some is related to none other than Apple. At CES 2016 drones ritaglieranno more space: the featured companies rose to 26 (in 2015 were 15 and just 4 in 2014). In addition to the latest gadgets we will discuss above all rules and safety. Large ads on the front smartphones are not expected, even if Samsung could launch a preview on the Galaxy S7, while riding the boom market of 2015 the field of wearable technology will still protagonist.

The space fair is more than tripled compared to the previous edition and according to ICC Insights industry flies to a growth of 64% over the next three years. Among bracelets fitness, smart watches, jewelry and fabrics with sensors, the category “wearable” is booming.

The Internet of Things and artificial intelligence go hand in hand and is another area to keep an eye. Both will be conjugated with the issue of cybersecurity. Last but not least, the curtain will rise on Las Vegas TV last generation, always one of the “hearts” buttons CES. In the edition 2016 will be but also the streaming platforms, to content, to carve out more space. Among the most anticipated keynote there are indeed those of Netflix and YouTube.
