How to dispose of waste technology – Panorama

The main waste dump technology seems to be made up by the Italian
drawers. There, buried by dust and clutter of cables, lying lifeless old mobile phones, tablet screen cracked, 56k modems and personal computers that have breathed its last.

A museum of modern art that is enriched every year of pieces more or less fine.

Go ecological island city
The solution to get rid of this Digital mausoleum existed for years, but few know it.
And nearest island ecological city. It’s called “one on one”: it is the right of every consumer to hand in their old to the dealer every time you buy a new one.

According to the Legislative Decree 151 of 2005 and the subsequent ministerial decree 65 of 2010, any citizen can, when purchasing a new computer, TV or any other electrical or electronic equipment, hand over your old appliance to a reseller, provided they have equivalent functions and size.

This applies for small equipment, appliances for both
larger.

If you need a home collection, a refrigerator, for example, the distributor will be able to charge a premium only, and only for transport service.

One on zero
recently, by Legislative Decree 49 of 2014, was introduced a new “one-zero”. In this way, every citizen will be able to deliver a device used small (25 cm maximum), without being forced to buy a new one, in a
any store that has an area of at least 400 square meters.

In other words, in almost all stores of the big electronics chains. News that, for the moment, remains on paper, waiting for an implementing decree that makes it operational.

Free service
In any case, the collection service must be free by law, since the cost of collecting and recycling have already been paid by manufacturers and, indirectly, by the final consumer, who often sees indicated that cost in receipt, referred to as “eco contribution WEEE”, which stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

The goal is to make life easier for consumers who need to dispose of a product. And in the future everything will be even easier. “Currently the most advanced system is the recycling of photovoltaic modules” explains Giancarlo Morandi, president of COBAT,
the consortium that is responsible for collecting and recycling technology products.

“When They are sold, manufacturers and installers will indicate an identification code of a single module that allows the consortium to ensure the free pickup when this
stop working, even twenty years. A good practice that we think of expanding to all technology products, in full respect of the rights of consumers and the environment “.
