The full-time job? A one size too many measures. Amazon rejects the traditional working hours. And to try to reverse the charges on the conditions of workers in establishments, Jeff Bezos company will introduce a new contractual regime.

Some employees part-time will receive the same benefits as full-time employees that work only 30 hours a week, instead of 40 hours. In return they will get only 75% of the pay of full-time workers, which will overlap compulsory for 16 hours per week , from Monday to Thursday, from 10 to 14.

Of course Amazon individual workers already employed part-time. The news, however, is the introduction of entire teams will choose to face a reduction remuneration, compared to a reduction of working hours.

A choice thereby providing a better balance the relationship between work and leisure, to enable to women access to a contractual status more akin to the needs of the family. At the time the solution will only cover a hundred of technological departments, and will not be extended to thousands of Amazon employees outside the US borders.

” We aim to reduce commitments and to create a tailored working environment, which continues to stimulate achievements and personal goals, “he explained a spokesman for Amazon at an event held last week.

But after several complaints rained down on the e-commerce giant for the harsh working conditions, shown in the testimonies of former employees, the American press has hailed the Amazon move as an attempt to also promote equality gender in the workplace.

And in essence, for the first time, entire departments can be carried out by teams composed entirely of part-time employees, who decide to reduced the number of hours from 40 to 30 hours per week, compared to a deduction of salary.

Nevertheless, according to a survey conducted by Gallup, in the United States the working week from 40 hours just does not exist anymore. While the French take to the streets , raising the barricades to defend the 35 hours per week, Americans work on average 47 hours per week.

A desire to be precise, 21% admits to be up to 59 hours per week and 18% goes beyond 60 hours. The research does not specify employment status of the respondents (whether full or part time), but it is indicative of how the chase legislation often practices that have proved successful in factories and plants.
