Ford, comes the new Kuga SUV – Wired.it

Presented in Barcelona the SUV with a strong core technology, with intelligent all-wheel drive, Dynamic Traction Control cornering and adaptive headlights

as is tradition for many years, Ford has chosen and very little chance automotive technology, to reveal their news. At the MWC show for the first time not only his Sync 3 , and there is little wonder given that we are in full scope of mobility and hi-tech, but also his latest creation, the new Ford Kuga . Sign of how, increasingly, insists booby its highly technological vision of the cars.

of Sync 3 , connectivity system, and enhanced voice commands, we will discuss in detail in the coming days after experimenting on board. Let us see how it changes the Kuga. Aesthetically collects the direction that characterizes the new Ford SUV’s European range, with styling cues shared with EcoSport and Edge as the imposing trapezoidal grille front which connects to the adaptive headlights with LED daytime running lights, whose style it is also called by the design of the fog lights and the rear lights.

The available engine range includes 1.5 TDCi 120 hp , which replaces the previous TDCi 2.

0 and with which Ford will offer, for the same power, a 4% increase in efficiency, with fuel consumption of 4.4 l / 100 km and CO2 of 115 g / km emissions. The 1.5 TDCi 120 hp will be bundled only with front-wheel drive.

The TDCi 2.0 will continue to be offered but with a power of 150 horses, with either front-wheel drive that with the intelligent all-wheel drive (fuel consumption 4.7 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions from 122 g / km), and 180 horses, only with the intelligent all-wheel drive (fuel consumption of 5.2 l / 100 km and emissions of CO2 135 g / km).

the petrol engines are all based sull’EcoBoost 1.5, offered in capacities from 120 to 150 horses, only with front-wheel drive (consumption 6.2 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 143 g / km for both powers), and 182 horses, only with the intelligent all-wheel drive (consumption of 7.4 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 171 g / km).

The core technology of the Kuga is not only visible in terms infotaineament do, but also heavily with regard to the safety systems . It starts from the intelligent all-wheel drive that automatically distributes the torque distribution to ensure maximum grip even in low grip conditions, from control of cornering stability , which automatically reduces maximizing the speed control in the case in which the driver face at a sustained pace curve too, to get to the dynamic traction control z , which manages the rotation of the wheels speed inside of the curve for improve traction.

the headlamps adaptive bi-xenon analyze the environmental illumination and change amplitude, direction and depth of the light beam according to different driving conditions and also the hood has its technological soul: incorporates a controlled deformation elastic structure that protects pedestrians in case of impact. Finally, to the benefit of motorists, both hood and rear hatch are designed to be replaced , in case of minor accidents, only in damaged components , reducing repair costs .
