The LED bride craftsmanship combining design and hi-tech – Il Sole 24 Ore

Ancient artisan techniques that make every artifact, and LED technology: this combination to create the unprecedented suspension lamps, table or large wall aesthetic appeal, but also in step with technological progress. It is the trend that emerges from some of the most interesting proposals in the domestic lighting industry; manufacturers, although 2016 has been a year of Euroluce, the trade fair that accompanies every two years, the Salone del Mobile, have enriched their catalogs of products, from design, mix effectively craft and technology, research on materials and poetic invention.

It is the peculiarity of Pinecone, a pendant and table lamp shaped like a pine cone (as shown by the English name), created by designer Paola Navone for FontanaArte. The speaker is, in fact, a large glass cone, which hangs from the ceiling or leaning on a mobile, obtained by the ancient technique of caged blown glass. The technique requires that the glass master to mouth blow the glass bubble inside a metal cage, in this case diamond meshed; the glass seems to hang in the expansion the moment, restrained by the metal basket. Pinecone is available in two different types of glass: transparent and polished, that once lit all around projects the mesh design for a diffused and delicate light.

Craftsmanship and customization inspired the concept of morpheme, a series of hanging lamps, table and floor lamps that progettiste Laura Alesi and Silvia Braconi have devised for Karman, relying on the idea of the game of the beads to put on. Each morpheme lamp, in fact, is composed of a wooden base module in the form of a shell, which contains a point light; the module is placed at the end of a cable in which can be placed, as in a necklace, other wood forms a ring or tubular, marked by elegant moldings and in different colors, from natural wood to mahogany, to green. Of particular effect a system of lighting the similar but different shapes, arranged in a line on top of a table.

From wood to wrought iron is the material of choice by Opinion Ciatti, Tuscan company of furnishings It draws on forms and techniques of tradition, reinterpreting them in designer key. Among those changes was the suspension lamp Batti.batti Stefan Krivokapic, the speaker consists of a wrought-iron rods circle hand-forged, that open corolla down. The processing makes the surface of the vibrating rods and the mobile, especially evident when the light, the center of the radial pattern, is turned on. The shades of Batti.batti are those of metals (natural iron with plastic coating, nickel and gold 24 carats polished), which stand out even more the look of handmade artifact, a different one from the other.

Among new models of table lamps stands out the proposal by Ingo Maurer, poet and inventor of contemporary light, which drew on memories and myths of childhood to Keep Balance model: “as a child – he says – i dreamed of a future as a tightrope walker or juggler at the circus. I was hoping that a passing circus kidnap me, and I became part of the crew. ” Keep Balance is a tribute to the miracle of balance, with a central arbor on which swivel rod 360 ° and mobile thanks to a central ring that connects to the base support. At an auction Vetrice there is the LED light head, while at the opposite corner a spherical disc tray seems poised on the rod to compensate for the weight.

Look at the past, but reinterprets it for the present , the light from Pan Artemis table, a project in which Maurizio Giuseppe Scutellà rereads the lamp model ministerial desk, with the green and the extended base loudspeaker. The model replaces the diffuser in the glass a green optical device that reminds him in form but that, through studied principles of refraction, and emits conducts the light produced by a strip-LEDs positioned at its top. The diffuser is adjustable and houses in the thin white base a USB socket.
