Krafwerk 3-D – Amadeus online

Gianmarco Caselli

Robots, projections 3D, minimal electronic music, obsessive rhythms and atmospheres that project in the future: this is Krafwerk 3-D , the concert was staged last July 25 at ‘ Arena Verona (only Italian date of 2016), and where, to music performance of the German band, have joined three-dimensional projections that have literally invested the audience for over two hours. A concert that leaves no doubt about the fact that Kraftwerk, founded in 1970, still represent one of the key pillars of electronic music , perhaps even the point of reference along with Stockhausen. Theirs is definitely not a closed story despite the fact that, after the departure of one of the group’s founders, Florian Schneider, the original line is left alone Ralf Hütter.

With this concert the novelty is not only represented by three-dimensional projections, but also the actualization of the songs in a purely Kraftwerk style with references to anything else but to themselves; a performance that does not look to the past and even at present but the future music. The band in fact it is not limited to resubmit the songs in more or less known versions, but gave them new life making them contemporary and engaging even further for the new generations.

We can only bow before such a show that does not point to the spectacular self-centered individual artists but still puts the center of electronic music and its performative forms.

Who attended this event will find outdated and surpassed every other type of electronic experimentation because Kraftwerk, which have been able to cancel and overcome the distinction between popular music and classical music , still know how to see and do in the future music 40 years after their genesis.

the show starts with Numbers and the public, equipped with goggles (which surely will become the object of worship and collectors) to view 3D projections , is immediately flooded with a myriad of green numbers on a black background, codes at the base of electronic music, while the four musicians remain throughout the duration of the evening almost motionless behind their locations. As a start like that is much impact, the delirium of technological music and projections have soared with The man machine with geometric shapes in 3D that seem to hover over the heads of the spectators and then continue with an incredible version of space Lab during the execution of which the Kraftwerk and the public navigate inside of a spaceship flying in space with a fascinating visual effect and were close to the land, in particular Italy, and just happens to head Verona where it lands right in front of the Arena with a vintage ’20s sci-fi. But the irony of videos like this and positivity that emerges from songs like Tour de France – in a memorable performance – give way to other more disturbing as that of Trans Europe Express in which a reality of black background is cut from bright white bands that outline the train itself. And the projections continue to invest the audience, when, with geometric figures, when with lines when with overwhelming architectural structures that seem drawn from electronic circuits, when optical style with figures of three dimensions, at one with the music of songs like Planet of visions , Radioactivity, Electric Cafe and the robots – the latter with the musicians, men-machine, replaced by robots – to find a kind of summa with the mantra that closes the concert: Music non stop . And the hope is just that Kraftwerk and their music does not stop.
