The engine that makes the electric bike and other technological innovations 4 – Bergamo Post

The technological research offers every week new inventions that can make our lives easier, including engineers who work for large companies and young people looking for funding on crowdfunding platforms. Here is the news announced in recent days.

1) The baby monitor that controls every movement

The generations that have grown along with the development of the Internet and a certain type of technology, have grown accustomed to have some gadgets that would facilitate their approach to certain situations. Even when it comes to newborn children you can not help but draw on the latest technological innovations, especially if it is designed to improve safety and make us feel more confident. Nanit has a new baby monitor which can be mounted above the baby’s crib and that monitors sleep and activity of the infant during the day than during the night. It is equipped with a motion sensor that is used to alert parents, with a smartphone notification when your baby wakes up. It has an integrated nightlight and speakers from which plays relaxing music to help sleep of the small, as well as other sensors to monitor temperature and humidity. It is also able to record video to show the movements of the child in the crib at the time of awakening. The base price is $ 349, but rises (well below) for more advanced models.

2) A new bottle to avoid

the ecology is now a subject in which everyone is forced to come to terms, given that the consequences of years of reckless pollution have made clear the need to chart a new path for the future. Waste is a major problem because they have as a direct consequence the production of more waste to be disposed of, and one of the most common examples regards the bottles used by almost everyone in the house, such as detergent or toothpaste. Their structure is designed in order to make convenient use, but makes it almost impossible to exploit to the bottom of the package contents. It happens, therefore, to throw together to the bottle also a certain amount of product still usable. The Ohio University has thus created a new type of bottle composed of innovative materials, which are inspired by nature to this process of lotus leaves, and which is slippery for any type of liquid. Ordinary bottles are coated inside with a special film that is able to slide to the last drop of product, without having to press with all our strength and completely eliminating waste. It will be much easier also the recycling process of plastic bottles, which normally have to undergo a thorough cleaning process before being actually recycled.

3) A gadget to transform an ordinary bike into a electric bike

The electric vehicles market seems, for now, still far from its peak, especially in Europe, where the charging stations are present in very small numbers and only in a few areas. Electric bicycles, for example, never seem to have convinced the audience deeply. Not so much for their great comfort, because the excessive costs. Thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, though, will soon see the light GeoOrbital Wheel, an interesting gadget adaptable to any ordinary bicycle and that, in fact, it is a kind of electric motor. Thanks to it each bike may be transformed into a modern electric vehicle “in less than 60 seconds,” at least according to a statement by the manufacturers. The fundraiser was a real success with over 1.2 million dollars collected in a month and a half, about four times the amount required for the start of production. It is a device equipped with a technology far from trivial and is customizable in various forms and colors, to fit virtually every bike. It has a 500W motor with batteries fed by Panasonic high efficiency solar cells. The price is certainly not for every pocket, but it’s still much cheaper than that required for the purchase of an electric bicycle true: Starts at $ 800.

4) The glasses to show the colors to those who can not

Many people have difficulty in color perception. Some people are completely unable to distinguish them, seeing only a scale of gray very similar to each other, and those who have difficulty only with certain tones. Often, those who have such problems it only discovers in adulthood, remaining convinced for years to see perfectly. Until now there were no real solutions to the problem. A company called EnChroma, however, has recently made a pair of glasses which, as stated, would be able to correct this defect of view, revealing to many the real world, colorful and beautiful. The company also released a funny video, where the glasses are made to wear for the first time to people who all their lives have color blindness by showing their reactions. On the manufacturer’s website it explains that EnChroma however, is not a cure for color-blind: can give different results depending on the individual situation, but according to tests carried out works very well in 80 percent of cases of difficulty with the red and green colors, those that most commonly represent a problem. There is also a test to be performed to get a diagnosis on their own ability to perceive colors and thus be able to choose the model that best suits your needs. The prices, considering the utility, are not even exaggerated: Starts at $ 350 for the most classic model.

5) A tape to accurately calculate distances

the measurements in indoor environments can be very problematic, especially for those not used to having to do with this kind of work, or for those who expect an almost surgical precision even in more open spaces. The traditional media sometimes are not enough for a satisfactory outcome, Kickstarter so someone thought to launch a simple but ingenious design: a tape for measurements showing precisely the distance covered. It is called Bagel and is able to perform measurements in different modes. Can be used as a common from measuring tape, but with the addition of a small display that shows precisely the length of the extracted tape. However, it has also two most advanced functions: a small wheel, which if made to slide on a surface of the measurement distance, and a laser which, when pointed toward a more difficult-to-reach surface, can perform the same task. It also has an app that keeps track of all measurements made. The negatives are the battery life and the maximum length: about 3 meters (10 feet). If these limitations will not discourage us, you can already order a discounted price of $ 69.
