Total investments of 294 million euro in Tuscany, incoming new trains. Targets more stringent punctuality, also on investments in security lines. The spokesman of the Valdarno commuters asks a regional councilor meeting to get to know the new contract

Is there signing the new contract between the Tuscany Region and Trenitalia for the next six years on public transport in front of the iron. The agreement, formally signed on July 29, has already been in force since 1 January 2016. The enhancements, already announced several times by the regional Ceccarelli in the last months, more aspects relate to: investment, security, punctuality indexes and criminal. Also provided more regional inspectors on board, to check inefficiency.

 
 

“With this contract we have already initiated a change in the qualification of the regional rail service – said Vincenzo Ceccarelli – the ‘Iron care’ that Tuscany is pursuing will be further increased with investment in new trains and far superior to the premises technology improvements. We are talking about more than 290 million investment, 125 more than we had announced and about three times what was predicted at the beginning of the negotiations with Trenitalia. our goal is to have trains efficient, safe, timely and competitive with the private car. We chose the sustainability and i am sure that with this contract our region will make a significant step forward, reaching the highest European levels.

 
 

The contract calls investment to 294 million euro, which will be used to purchase 4 Vivalto be used on Aretina line for a total of 37 operating Vivalto compositions in Tuscany; to completion of diesel trains playground, Countryside and Siena; at Jazz more trains, with 6 other compositions for a total of 21 circulating. Also scheduled the purchase of 4 new high-capacity electric trains; this is the last committed Trenitalia concerning the new Hitachi regional trains during production.

 
 

There will also be an important intervention on the security front: the tooling ERTMS regional for all who travel the most direct. The new security objectives for the entire European network require the gradual extension of ‘equipping the network with the European system of the latest generation ERTMS (for now limited to Italy alone is the High speed), beginning with the Direttissima: for this reason it is necessary to the well equipping of the regional material.

 
 

In terms of punctuality, increase the target indices are the indices which are calculated penalties attributable to Trenitalia in the event of failure to achieve, and each line has been increased by more than a point percentage than those agreed in March, with a 95% regional objective index to 2019, compared with 94% previously established; the indices of each of the 14 lines were elevated in proportion. No line will be under 91% in 2016 and below 93% in 2019.
