Ex Foro Boario, there is agreement in Prato market and shops – Chronicle – The … – Morning Padua

PADUA. Investigation closed, the project submitted within ten days, approved by the city council in September, start work later this year. It is the route plan of the project for the new car park in Rabin Square and the restoration of the pediment of the former cattle market in Prato della Valle.

The announcement was made directly to the mayor Massimo Bitonci last Thursday he met with representatives of the company “Parking estate Prato della Valle Ltd.” composed Parking Italy spa, Cavagnis Ltd. and Fratelli Gallo srl. It solves the age-old question of the agreement signed by the previous administration for an underground car park and then locked with the victory of Bitonci.

You will not make any underground parking (‘was hated by the majority of Padua, “says the mayor) but will remain a parking flush with more seats than the existing one now.

Apart from this there are two innovations in the project developed by the company together with technical Palazzo Moroni. The first is that the Convention also extends to works “out of area” with companies who will, in all probability, the restoration of the old stadium Appiani and the arrangement of the velodrome Monti. The second is that the City will be a percentage on receipts from the parking lot that rents space of the pediment.

In summary, the Convention will have this pattern. The private company will manage the car park in Rabin Square for 30 years. In return it agrees to carry out the restoration of the pediment of the former cattle market (expected to cost approximately 6 million euro) giving also some spaces for public use, to rearrange and expand the parking lot and take part in some works “out of context”. More will pay an annual rent to the Municipality also determined by a percentage of revenue and on rents. “There is a deal between the offices to establish a fair return for the municipality – the mayor – I instructed the engineers to find a synthesis. The agreement sought by the previous administration was highly detrimental to Palazzo Moroni. “

With the new gable Prato will change the face: “There will be public spaces, a small supermarket of 500 square meters, and other types of activities,” says Bitonci. The spaces would actually already booked: Despar for the market, then a restaurant and wine shop, a bookstore, a jewelry store and a technological products.

“There is only the shift in the city council for the amendment of the agreement,” says the mayor.

Then finally will start work on a project that has been discussed for at least 15 years. The pediment was built between 1913 and 1919 by architect Alessandro Peretti. A century later, it will have a new life.
