Rome, December 20 (Adnkronos) – The government does not increase the compensation for private copying in the digital content legally purchased. And ‘the demand that comes from Confindustria Digitale which the Minister of Culture Massimo Bray then asks to leave unchanged the contribution imposed on producers and importers of electronic devices (PCs, USB keys, tablets, smartphones and so’ on) as compensation to the holders of the rights of exploitation of musical works, and videos. ” The minister Bray – said the president of Confindustria Digitale Stefano Parisi during a press conference – has expressed its willingness to increase by 500% the amount that is paid in Italy for each device with digital memory, cell phones, smartphones, PCs, tablets, MP3, CD, DVD, and also to introduce the smart TV.” Digital and vice versa by Confindustria ‘was proposed to the Government” to suspend this increase, convene the technical committee with all stakeholders to conduct an independent study on the evolution of technology and consumer behavior, follow the recommendations of the Report of the former EU Commissioner Vitorino private copy, so to be issued, in short order, a decree that defines a truly fair compensation.” With a view to updating the other hand, Bray gave a mandate to the Standing Advisory Committee for the copyright to conduct an investigation for the revision of the decree passed by the Minister Bondi in 2009. The Committee asked the SIAE, the beneficiary of the proceeds from the fair compensation for private copying, to carry out a technical report to attest to the” state of the markets and implement a survey of average tariffs in Europe.” On 28 October, the Committee has embraced the proposal of SIAE, transmitting its opinion to the Minister. The increase proposed by SIAE if actually adopted by the Minister would bring into the coffers of the same between 175 million (SIAE estimate) and 200 million euro (our estimate) compared to 72 million euro in 2012.
