Apple smashes share 50 billion app - La Stampa

Into Downloaded in Ohio, Say the Same Thing program becomes the symbol of the success of Apple

Into Apple announced the passing of the symbolic threshold of 50 billion downloads “app” from its App Store. Customers downloading app now 800 per second, at a rate of more than two billion, the company said in a statement. The 50 billionth app was “Say the Same Thing” Inch of Space, LLC, and has been downloaded by Brandon Ashmore of Mentor, Ohio, who received a Gift Card App Store valued at $ 10,000.

“An ecosystem exciting”

Into “The App Store has completely revolutionized the way people use mobile devices and has created an exciting ecosystem of app developers that has yielded more than nine billion dollars,” said Eddy Cue, vice president of Internet Software and Services Apple. “We are absolutely stunned by reaching this historic milestone in less than five years.”

History

Into The App Store was opened in July 2008 with just 500 app. Since then they have been created for every need from the community of developers, these applications are available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Today, the App Store offers more than 850,000 apps to users, of which more than 350,000 native available for iPad. They are divided into 23 categories, including newspapers and magazines on Newsstand, Games, Economy, News, Sport, Health and Wellness and Travel.
