The “Predator” on display at “Rome Drone Expo & Show” – ilVelino / AGV NEWS

Rome will be overrun by drones. The event is scheduled for next weekend on 24 and 25 May, when it will stage the “Rome Drone Expo & Show,” the first “Air Show” on drones in Italy. The event will be attended by dozens of fixed and rotary-wing drones, including the largest and most sophisticated drone in service to our country: the Air Force will exhibit in fact a giant mock-up of the “Predator” (8m , wingspan 15 meters), which is currently in service with the 32 ° Stormo at Amendola (Foggia) and used in reconnaissance and surveillance. On the occasion of the “Rome Drone Expo & Show”, will also be called the first Scholarship in Italy on drones: the initiative of the Department of Engineering, University Roma Tre for the academic year 2013-14. All the news of the event on the drones were presented this morning at a press conference in Rome.

The competition for the award of the scholarship on “UAV – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” (better known in Italy as APR in Aircraft Piloting Remote) apply to students enrolled in the second year of the Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Roma Tre. “This scholarship,” it said in the announcement, “aims to encourage the training of the candidate in the field of new technologies related to the development and use of UAVs with regard to the dynamics and aerodynamics of the flight of aircraft means unmanned fixed-wing and rotary. ” The Stock Exchange will be funded by Mediarkè, organizer of the “Rome Drone Expo & Show”, also using part of the proceeds from the sale of admission tickets. The program of the “Rome Drone Expo & Show” is particularly intense. Next weekend, you can see up close about 50 drones of various types, both fixed-wing rotorcraft. Among the many new features, in addition to the “Predator” Air Force, visitors will find for example: the mini-and micro-UAVs Finmeccanica – Selex ES, called Crex, Asio, Spyball and Drako, and proposed uses of monitoring, surveillance and safety; the drone / airship Nimbus EOS Xi, made by the company Nimbus and ideal for flights over populated areas; the quadricopter Anteos, Aermatica produced by the company, which has just received approval by ENAC for flight operations, non-critical; the drone-copter Helicampro for activities in the field of precision agriculture; the drone-cop Guardian in 2000, engineered from the start-up AD Precision Mechanics and in service with the Securitas Group Metronotte; and a prototype drone with an innovative biofuels engine, developed by ENEA.

In addition to the exhibition, the “Rome Drone Expo & Show” also includes the stand of forty institutions and companies. Saturday 24 will also feature a stand of the Italian Post Office, with a special cancellation stamp on the event. It will also set up a “flight zone”, which will be made short demonstration flights of different models of drones. Moreover, in a large marquee, will be held a dozen workshops, lectures, panel discussions on topical issues relating to drones, with the presence of major Italian experts on the subject. Among other things, we’ll talk about insurance, flight safety, regulatory, scientific and technological research, and training schools, as well as new applications in the areas of security, remote sensing and precision agriculture, as well as the “challenge” between drone and helicopter.
