MIA Milan Image Art Fair , now in its fourth edition, the international art fair dedicated the picture opens in Milan (Superstudio Più, Via Tortona 27) 23 to 25 May 2014. Approximately 180 Italian and international exhibitors have many established artists and young talents from all over the world, according to the formula unique and original: a stand for every artist, every artist’s catalog. Still under the direction of Fabio Castelli, MIA Fair features the best in photography, through its proposed feature unique in the Italian trade fair, which this year will be in a format innovative moving from traditional paper catalog to e-book format. The event, supported by the Lombardy Region , the Province of Milan , the City of Milan , you can count on reconfirmation of the partners BNL BNP Paribas Group , Lavazza , BMW Italy , Eberhard & Co . and Nikon . Within a few seasons, says Fabio Castelli , MIA Fair is able to bring to the world of Italian photography, a wave of positive energy. 2014 MIA Fair is full of ideas and innovations and is open to the public and with the success of sales achieved at Arte Fiera in Bologna, where we treated, for the first time, a section devoted entirely to photography. It is ideally close to the prestigious appointment of MIA Fair Singapore, scheduled to Marina Bay Sands 23 to 26 October. The Milan edition this year – the fourth – offers several new proposals for quality, researched and organized by my staff with passion and attention that will satisfy, I am sure, the expectations of our exhibitors and the public. ” In 2013, it was the great success that the public has paid tribute to MIA Fair . 20,000 collectors, journalists and lovers of art and design that have visited the fair and participated in the 10 round tables, publications and presentations at 18 to 20 booksigning organized with international guests.

The 180 galleries , independent photographers, specialized publishing – not only from Italy but also from Europe and the rest of the world, have been selected by the Scientific Committee consists of: 3/3 photography projects – Rome research study on the photographic image; Gigliola Foschi , curator and art critic; Elio Grazioli , contemporary art critic and curator Roberto Mutti , curator and photography critic; Enrica Viganò , curator, photography critic and organizer of events related to photography.
Like every year MIA Fair offers a full program of novelty, which three: the Mila Award Malerba, which has for its subject the East, winking edition of Singapore, with images taken by Philip-Lorca Corcia Thomas Struth , by Nobuyoshi Araki Toshio Shibata ; the curatorial project “ Coffee Artistic with Lavazza six authors emerging exhibiting new works; the presentation of the MAST Foundation . Manufacture, Testing and Technology, or speaking with you , with thirty video installation that tells the story of many Italian photographers. A portfolio organized by “ My Code” which will conclude with a special prize: the most original author will have a booth of its 2015 edition of the fair. The stand ViviMilano , where they will be exposed selfie five players chosen from all those who have participated in the “ # SelfieMi ” launched on April 23.

Three prizes are up for grabs by BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas , which will acquire a work to add to their collections; Malerba , which will give its recognition (€ 2,000 to buy an artwork) not a photographer, but an aspiring critic among those participating in the appropriate seminar; and “I Woman ” that with “Time Regained- Pictures not to be missed” will give € 8,000 to the best Italian private archive to be saved . MIA Fair offers a rich cultural program, among them being the keynote of Hans Op de Beeck , the various talks that will alternate protagonists of the international art scene, which, to name a few, Francesco Bonami and Urs Stahel . Also of note, the performance of video art and music with Irene Grandi and video artists Pastis , the two Florentine Mark and Saverio Lanza .

Among the famous Italian photographers present: Aurelio Amendola, Oliviero Barbers, Giovanni Gastel, Mario Giacomelli, Louis Ghirri and Tazio Secchiaroli.

MIA grows each year of equity and quality. From all over the world are in fact not only the perpetrators, but also the exhibitors: Korea, Japan, Germany, England, Mexico, Netherlands, USA, Russia, Switzerland and of course Italy.
Success is to match supply and demand, giving everyone the opportunity to become collectors. The photograph is still affordable and this is particularly important today. It should be emphasized that MIA adopts an absolute control over runs and editions, however, preferring traditional prints.

The picture today is increasingly popular interest with the ability to capture all thanks to mobile phones and tablets, this makes it popular. The artists themselves use photography as an expression. So artists and photographers living in this new world where technology determines the communication. The photograph is no longer a by-product of art, but an art form, equal to the other.
Consider that such performance does not make sense without the photographs or videos. But even here the documentary form has turned into another artistic product.

The technological constraint no longer exists and this year proves it also emphasizing product of a mutation that makes use of special papers, from cotton to rice paper produced in-house, from the canvas and aluminum, which are stamapati shots, with both traditional and digital media. But here we also see the displacement of three-dimensional surfaces. The shots are combined in writing, become collage materials that blend in among the different objects. The traditional space is broken and also the combination of the various works he composed another in an attempt to construct a narrative, a story. No more shooting photographing reality, but compositional element of a dream. Even in this sense, change colors, photography becomes painting, even with interventions of signs. A new trend is found in the search for compositions tending to a result of abstraction, ranging from the non-place, and even if it originated from the imaginary shots with subjects drawn from nature or architectural visions. The first glance at a distance is an abstract composition, but closer you realize the elements of reality.

In addition to everything in black and white shots strictly analog and printed on photographic paper in the traditional way .
A universal path photographing today with his complaints and dreams or visions of the future actually want.
