Into Logo and patents, Apple loses its battle against a German barInto It all began two years ago, when from Cupertino declared war (so to speak) to the unknown Apfelkind, a bar in Bonn. The Germans were responsible for having used a logo too similar to the famous bitten apple of Apple. And for that set off the first signs legal. Signs that soon turned into a real trial.

So Into Christina Romer, owner dell’Apfelkind found himself in front of the Cupertino giant. A war unwinnable. His red apple with the profile of a child, and the word “Apfelkind,” was not right to Jobs and partners. A long letter to the Römer and signed by Apple’s lawyers argued that the logo was causing confusion among consumers, and therefore had to be withdrawn immediately. He began a tug incredible, that the Germans brought forward with unexpected tenacity. Everything seemed to be solved, a year ago: Apfelkind never had to undertake not to market technological objects. But it was not the solution.

Into Today the reverse of Apple which leaves a little ‘all speechless. The German patent office said that the giant California withdrew its opposition. A choice that no one wants to comment from Cupertino. Probably, however, at the end of this story, the only one to earn it was the small German bar, jumped to the headlines for a patent war poorly understood. And because of that, now, the Römer is ready to expand the brand. Apfelkind may not be more than just the name of a bar.
