Here comes the first eco-ship of the Italian Navy - Articolotre

It’s called Foscari and is the first ship of the Italian military fleet powered by biofuel.

Here comes the first eco-ship of the Italian Navy Editors – It ended the trial of the first offshore patrol vessel of the Italian Navy powered with biofuel . The Foscari returned to Augusta, Province of Syracuse.

This is the first ship in our fleet to use a mixture produced in collaboration with Eni experiencing the green diesel. The mixture was made with 50% F76 and 50% of organic fraction of the second generation. This is in compliance with the European directives that have set a deadline of the use of 10% by 2020. A strong advance that sees Italy first in Europe.

Since March 2014, the bio-refinery of Porto Marghera, near Venice, will be the site of production of this diesel marine green .

The switch to green fuel ship was transparent, imperceptible, the scenery on board is not changed at all ” said Rear Admiral Mario Culcasi.

This eco-efficient ships of the future will reduce the consumption of of petroleum helping to reduce emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, just on the basis of the guidelines of the National Energy Strategy.
