One against Xbox PlayStation 4: hardware, launch games and feature ... - International Business Times Italy

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 represent the new advances for Micrrosoft and Sony: from 22 and 29 November the console will hit the market, respectively, at a price of 499 and 399 euro. A price difference justified by Microsoft for the presence in the packaging of Kinect 2, which will open the door to true multimedia in your living room. Sony is all about the players while pointing Microsoft also on TV, thanks to the capabilities of its motion control system that also involves the entry of the user.

Into But what are the differences between the two consoles? The choice appears to be less difficult if you compare, in addition to technical specifications, the “package” offered at launch: this means exclusive games and multimedia features. When you launch and in the months to come the two consoles, as well as having the exclusive titles in the table comparatica, will also share some multiplatform titles like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4, while Watch Dogs of Ubisoft been postponed to 2014.

DESIGN OF THE CONSOLE

Into The design of the console is an important factor: this year, Sony and Microsoft have made two different choices. The first is more small and elegant , while the second squarer and mighty (some have likened to a Betamax). Both have a dull side and a shiny. Matter of taste.

HARDWARE

Into AMD has been collecting in this generation: that PS4 and Xbox One (but also Wii U) under the body reveal just a processor AMD . Although both a mountain octa-core x86 CPU , there are some differences. The first will have an eight-core x64 CPU custom made especially for Microsoft, while the second reveals a x86-64 “Jaguar”, with an AMD Radeon Graphics Core Next GPU engine. During the last generation Microsoft chose a processor IBM Power PC, while Sony chose the Cell processor in the complicated partnership with IBM Toshiba.

Into The eternal question “what is the fastest CPU and GPU” will remain in continuous discussion and the same thing happened between PS3 and Xbox 360. Different architectures and operating systems make the comparison between the two consoles very difficult. What will make the difference, so it’s the software, games, and how developers will be able to push in terms of graphics the respective console. We expect similar performance, at least in the launch games, but over time probably PS4 will have a slight advantage , at least technically.

Into Both systems will come with 8 GB of RAM , maybe a little ‘just by looking at the PC Desktop modern and high-end, but four times higher than that of the Wii U and sixteen times the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Obviously the amount is not the only factor to consider, since it has a PS4 and Xbox One GDDR5 RAM will use the most common and slow DDR3, the same that you see on the Wii U. The internal memory is shared by the two consoles, 500 GB , unfortunately SSD (the cost would have risen enormously). Xbox One allows you to connect an external hard drive to the console to expand a memory, thanks to its USB 3.0 port. Instead PS4 will not allow this, even if the hard disk of the Sony console is easily removable and replaceable with a larger, unlike the Microsoft console that allows you to pull it out.

I JOYPAD

Into Unlike Nintendo , which has changed drastically with the Wii U controller by inserting a large touch surface, Sony and Microsoft have improved their controller on the basis of the above. Although the layout of the keys remains substantially equal, there are many improvements in both controllers. For the first time Sony has redesigned its conroller, calling DualShock 4 , with un’esteica improved from the third version, the introduction of a touchpad and the share button, which allows you to share your own records on social networks. Contrast, Microsoft has compacted its controller, improving the triggers, while the nattery pack finally does not protrude more.

KINECT CAMERA AND PLAYSTATION

Kinect , the new improved version, is available in the package of Xbox One, so the price of the console Microsoft is higher than the Sony. Kinect is the focus of the strategy to make Xbox Redmond One a home entertainment center, thanks to the very responsive voice control with which you can turn on and turn off the console or switch from game to TV simply by speaking. Kinect mounts a room full HD at 1080p and can “see” even in low light. PlayStation Room instead does not seem to be the focus of strategies Sony can make videos to 1280 x 800 pixels at 60 frames per second and works in tandem with the Dualshock 4, thanks to the light that we see on the back of controller. It will be essentially an upgrade of the PlayStation Eye.

ONLINE SERVICES AND MULTIMEDIA

Into Both console want to act as a media hub : this time both consoles allow you to play Blu-ray discs , the winning format of the past generation and each will have its own online library of video games, movies, music to rent or buy. Unfortunately, for now, Netflix is not available in Italy and this is a big gap with respect to U.S. users. Microsoft has put at the center of, once again, Xbox Live, but making a step back on the constant connection to play. You will have to register online with the console just once, then pay the usual Gold to gain access to premium content. Also on PlayStation 4 will have to do a yearly subscription to enjoy different content. With your subscription you will have access to exclusive content of the Instant Game Collection, as well as discounts on games in the online store. Possibility to use the Cloud system, which allows you to save space on your hard disk.

CONSOLE WHICH TO BUY?

The choice is up to you . Of course the hundred euro less for PlayStation 4 will not be a small thing given the times, but on the other hand included in the packaging is Kinect. It also depends on what games interest you, or if the number of titles such as Killzone 3 and Dead Rising Ryse. In any case, the console war between no officially begins.
