Google launches Newsstand: news also for a fee - The Messenger

A new app for consulting the news about tablet and mobile, which allows publishers to offer content even for a fee. Google launches Google Play Newsstand for Android devices and gives the ability for users to access the articles through a single interface to a virtual newsstand.

News for a fee. Newsstand, a total of more than 1,900 publications, free and paid, you can follow or to which you can subscribe. Among them, for example, the complete contents of some major newspapers such as Financial Times, Los Angeles Times, The National Post, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. The journals will be available for the moment only in the United States, Canada, Britain and Australia.

Publications you can choose and browse, deepening the reading with multimedia content. The new app opens up the possibility for newspapers, magazines and blogs to provide their own pages online subscription. One option that is not covered in the previous version of the app, Currents, which gave the opportunity to monetize through advertising alone. The subscription option, however, is not yet available in Italy and will be activated only after the first phase of testing.

Among the new Newsstand, which you download and install Google Play, the ability to access Articles also from offline or add a bookmark to put off reading. Who is already using Google Currents – informs the company – can I upgrade to downloading the new Newsstand app: all subscriptions will be transferred automatically and newspapers and bookmarks will be immediately ready to be read.
