Into From his blog, Google says that “We think it is actually possible to build a ring of balloons flying around the globe taking advantage of the stratospheric winds to provide Internet access to the territories below.”. The technology is for momendo only in one phase to begin construction “but we have built a system that uses balloons blown by the wind flying at a height twice that used by commercial aircraft.”.

Looking Into a not too distant future, Google hopes that Loon “could become an option for connecting rural areas, remote or under-served areas and to enable communications during natural disasters.”.

How does the Project Loon Google ? The system uses balloons diameter of about 15 meters made with a very thin plastic that should allow access to the Internet at a speed comparable to that of UMTS 3G and in future even faster. To speed up the end of the tests began in New Zealand, Google is looking for partners to associate with the firm, with the goal of creating “other pilot projects in countries that are at the same latitude.”

In the following video Into Google explains in two minutes his project Loon.
