What the Frankfurt Motor Show is not a normal case in which expose the new models and their prototypes in stand lined up in the halls. Here are the pavilions themselves to become stand: true flagship salons. At least for German homes that, year after year, challenge each square meters. Suffice it to say that this year Bmw terraced an inside track but Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen are no different. Maybe, given the ongoing crisis in Europe, it would be appropriate to limit the celodurismo Teutonic, but in the end the German homes run and those who suffer are the others.
No coincidence Winterkon Martin, CEO of VW, has warned stating in Europe are at risk many factories. Competitors, of course. But back to the new proposals. In the spotlight (until September 22) edition of the IAA 20133 the recurring theme is that hybridization and the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions in the wake of EU regulations that put the whip the Germans and their models wi th big engines. And here among the most anticipated new green and interesting figure, the final version of the BMW i8, the plug-in hybrid sports that completes the range of the “i” series, where we already find the newly i3 electric city in carbon fiber. The i8, low and sleek, recalls a bit ‘the legendary BMW 850 90s, while the pattern is at the forefront of mechanical technologist for emissiozni zero (or almost). Acts on the rear wheels by a three-cylinder turbo and a half liters capable of delivering 231 horsepower well, at the front, however, an electric motor 131 hp hp ensures, alone, 35 miles of pure electric range with zero emissions, while in tandem with the “Otto cycle” green drinks only 2.5 liters per 100 kilometers. Stuff to scooters, but the small ones, while the i8 is a true supercar. The theme of the device at the fair was also developed by Vw e-up!.
Among the queens Frankfurt we chose three significant models: the Mercedes Gl a, the Peugeot 308 and Hyundai i10.
The first is a compact crossover-SUV, fourth variant of the Class A. It will be sold with four-wheel drive with the front, while the engines contain two petrol (1.6-liter 156 hp and two 211 hp) and the 2.2-liter turbodiesel available in two power levels: 136 and 170 horses.
With the 308, Peugeot raises the challenge to Golf, exhibited in “R” version of 300 hp and as an MPV concept definitive format of the new generation of Plus The average of the lion. Take advantage of the new platform modulates Emp2. More space, but shorter and lower. Despite its huge size under the hood, next spring there will be a small three-cylinder petrol turbo 1.2-liter and 82 horses. Five engines: three petrol from 82 to 155 hp, and two diesel engines from 92 or 115 horses. Also expected Diesel BlueHDi with selective catalytic reduction. The 308 has an interior almost entirely touch (such as “sister” C4 Picasso). Among other th ings, the issue of digitization of the dashboard was one of the themes of Frankfurt, with many concepts and production models like the Opel Insignia renewed that leaves a myriad of buttons in favor of a touch display with Android operating system.
The Hyundai i10 shows a further step of Koreans. In the viewfinder has the Fiat Panda, the VW up! and the three younger sisters not Toyota Aygo, Citroën C1 and Peugeot 107. Debut with a thousand and 1,250 from 66 and 87 horses and is also a version LPG. Finally, the supercar, the Ferrari 458 Special (described at right), the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 racing team “derived from the race car and the new Porsche 911 Turbo which celebrates 50 years of a myth.
