Major sporting events, especially if played in areas of the world far removed from Italy, traditionally you look on television. And now, despite the number and type of screens has multiplied (PCs, laptops, tablets, phones, projectors etc …) TV is still the easiest and most satisfying for the viewer to enter the sporting spectacle. No exception to the World Cup which kicks off on June 12 in Brazil. And if on the occasion of the World Cup is recorded, in an emotional drive, a strong race to buy new TV in our country, this time the choice to change the TV is also a rational foundation, we are on the verge of a new leap technology with regard to the world of television and the purchase of a TV updated to allow you to follow the best television content over the next few years. Three are the main novelties with which the buyer is faced: first, the type of screen, with one hand, the disappearance of plasma and other tiling to traditional LCD TV to a new type of panel, the ‘OLED. Then the resolution of the screen itself, with the arrival of the very resolution or Ultra Hd. Finally, the design, with the emergence of television curved, the arrival of those “pyramid” and the placing on the market of other solutions even more special.

TV and not curved, all the news

2014 will be the year of OLED?

The acronym OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode or organic light-emitting diode. Indicates a technology that allows you to create screens with the ability to emit its own light: unlike traditional LCD fact, OLED screens do not require additional components to be enlightened (the liquid crystal display are illuminated by an external light source , be it a lamp or LEDs), but, in fact, emit their own light. A characteristic that allows you to create screens much more subtle and even rollable and foldable, and require less energy to operate. The advantages are obvious: almost infinite contrast, increased depth of black, width greater range of colors and shades, better brightness. A bet on the OLED is mainly the Korean LG OLED screen pairing with a new design, the curved screen. The 55-inch model 55EA9700, a full Hd, which last year cost 8000 euro now dropped to € 4490. But in October will be the time of the first OLED Ultra Hd, ie with a high definition 4 times higher than the traditional definition, which was recently unveiled a 77-inch model. The traditional exceptional depth of black, contrast, and color fidelity is also added the high definition and the result is truly extraordinary.

The television curved

Although, probably only in Japan, you can watch live World Cup matches one of the few occasions in Ultra Hd, it is clear that high definition is the future of television. Also because right now an Ultra Hd tv allows you to see better (with a measurable improvement around 10-30%) also broadcast in high definition “classic”. For this reason, the largest producer of televisions in the world, Korea’s Samsung, has staked everything on the first LCD TV Ultra Hd curved in the world, HU8500, available in three versions: 78, 65 and 55 inches. It has been long debated about the real utility for watching the curved screen. What is certain is that in addition to being a demonstration of technological excellence, constructive, wants to be a deliberate design that allows you to make these televisions different from all the others. For the rest of this TV from Samsung to report especially the improvement of image quality with Auto Depth Enhancer, an algorithm able to analyze the source and automatically adjust the contrast to give a greater sense of depth and a three dimensional effect. The prices? The 55-inch model costs € List 3499 rising to € 5,499 for the 65 inch. Widening the front of the tv Ultra Hd from more traditional design, the choice is obviously much larger. Panasonic, for example, launches the AX800, (4499 € the 65-inch version) that relies on a technology called Studio Master color, improving the picture quality in darker scenes. So much to enable him to get the prestigious THX certification. The Philips 7809 Tp instead is an LCD TV LED Ultra Hd that focuses on connectivity. Equipped with Wi-Fi transmitters and Miracast SimplyShare allows wireless streaming to and from mobile devices. This allows to easily integrate smartphones and tablets with this type of TV. The function enables multiroom viewing instead of being able to stream content to a TV anywhere in the secondary home. The price? It starts from 1499 EUR for the 49-inch model that go up to 1999 € for the 55 inches.

The design revolution

But the revolution of TV this year is mainly on the design front. Not only made of curved tv. Looking at the new range of TVs from Sony, for example, stands the choice of abandoning the slim design of the panels a few years ago to stake everything on integrating audio and video. A choice already carried out with the range of last year but this time it is an extreme in a search for a more distinctive, reminiscent, with a little ‘fantasy, a pyramid, or, more realistically, a wedge. Models such as those in the range W95, Ultra HD LED TV with denominations of 55 and 65 inches, which have a base distinctly wider than the top of the TV. What that allows on one hand to integrate side speakers more voluminous and more powerful and the other to lower the center of gravity of televisions. A device that allows you to support this type of TVs (thanks to the adjustable brackets) to a smaller compared to traditional TV, which means that the TV can more easily be placed against a wall or on a table shallow. Prices on Sony enters the market with an aggressive policy: 3500 € for the Ultra HD 55-inch and 65-inch for 4500. While the 49-inch Ultra Hd costs 1,800 Euros. A company always focused on design as a Bang & Olufsen has made an even more particular: to create a TV, the BeoVision Avant (6995 Euros for the 55-inch model), which has remained off in the second floor in the living room and turned instead to ‘to leap’ in center stage. With a touch of the remote control the TV is in fact moved from the supports toward the viewer during use, and then brought back to the initial position at the end of the vision. In addition, attention to the environment in which you are viewing is also given by the function Chromatic Adaptation Room which analyzes the ambient light with two sensors and adjusts the screen to compensate for the bright colors of the room in which you are located.
