An acquisition

such as the one just announced by Facebook against WhatsApp could not be commented enthusiastically by Mark Zuckerberg , the number one social network in blue: the letter posted just for the occasion on your social profile, shows a great sense of satisfaction with what has been done by his team. In particular, the CEO Welcomes be able to grab the instant messaging service excellence, thus making his own that he could become a direct competitor in the management of relationships and communications between people around the world.

These are the words of Mark Zuckerberg:

“I am thrilled to announce that we have agreed to acquire WhatsApp and their entire team will join us in Facebook.

Our mission is to make the world more open and connected . We do this by building services that help people to share any content with any group of people of their choice. WhatsApp will help us do this by continuing to develop a service that people around the globe love to use every day

WhatsApp is a simple, fast and reliable messaging service that is used by over 450 million people in all major mobile platforms. More than a million people sign up every day to WhatsApp and is on track to connect a billion people. More and more people rely on WhatsApp to communicate every day with all their contacts.

WhatsApp will continue to operate independently within Facebook . The roadmap of the product will remain unchanged and the team will work in Mountain View. In the coming years we will work hard to help WhatsApp to grow and connect the entire world. We also expect that WhatsApp will add to our efforts to Internet.org, or our partnership to make the basic Internet services accessible to everyone.

WhatsApp chat services will complement our existing messaging and to provide new tools to our community. Facebook Messenger is widely used to chat with friends on Facebook and WhatsApp to communicate with all your contacts and small groups of people. Since WhatsApp Messenger and perform these and other important tasks, we will continue to invest in both and will make them great products for anyone.

WhatsApp

had so many options around the world, so I’m thrilled that they have chosen to work with us. I can not wait to see what Facebook and WhatsApp can do together, and to develop new large mobile services that give people more options to connect.

I have also met Jan Koum [CEO and co-founder of WhatsApp] for a long time and I know that we both share the same vision of making the world more open and connected. I am particularly happy that Jan has agreed to serve on the board of Facebook and collaborate with me to shape the future of Facebook as well as WhatsApp.

Jan and the team have done an incredible job WhatsApp to connect nearly half a billion people … I can not wait to join Facebook and help us to interconnect the rest of the world. “

Mark Zuckerberg has always been known for its huge ambitions but certainly his message makes it clear what the ‘ enthusiasm for such acquisition : after all, WhatsApp is absolutely the messaging service most used in the world (has more than 450 million monthly active users and over 320 million active users every day). The acquisition will accelerate certainly the ability to connect to Facebook users around the world, but mostly it will generate strong synergies whose value is to be reflected today in the $ 19 billion paid by Facebook to take ownership of the group led by Jan Koum.
