The aircraft flown by the Swiss Betrand Piccard will do several tests in the U.S. Into MOFFETT (California – USA) – The first fully solar-powered plane has completed a major flight test reaching the first of six stages of a journey on the U.S. “coast to coast”. Solar Impulse, the name of this futuristic prototype, landed at the airport at night Sky Harbor International Airport in Pheonix, Arizona, flown by Swiss pilot Bertrand Piccard. The veivolo is like a giant glider with the wingspan of a 747 and the weight of a car that travels with the energy collected from 12,000 photovoltaic cells on the wings and transmitted to the batteries that run with four electric motors.

Solar Impulse in its first stage has traveled to 43 miles per hour from California, where he was taken off 18 hours before.
