ROME – Returned to the strong wind at the spaceport of Kourou the first commercial launch of the rocket Vega, intended to put in orbit three satellites. In the control room
in the jungles of French Guiana has been decided to postpone at least 24 hours of the start of the mission and then the new appointment is at 4:06 on Sunday, May 5: the wind, in the event of an accident, he could push the fragments of the carrier, 30 meters high and made of 65% in Colleferro, the inhabited areas of the coast.
The rocket. It came to light, in fact, to the stars, a little over a year ago and now is ready to work, to carry satellites into orbit, to demonstrate, above all, that Italy dominates in this area of ??Europe and is part of the very restricted elite of nations (six around the globe ) are able to design and build successful launchers.
The technology of the Vega
Here comes again Vega, the rocket SAA, made of 65% by the Italian Space in Colleferro by Avio, which in February surprised the world by bringing to an end with amazing perfection the first launch from Kourou in French Guyana. In that first flight of 4800 seconds, hundreds of engineers, physicists and technicians Italians were playing 20 years of work, of life, of investments: and the final signal of the “okay” in the control room the tension broke up belting out the ‘national anthem in front of friends and allies, the French, the hosts of the program Arianne paladins. Also from there, the space-port ripped by bulldozers in the Amazon jungle from which escape Papillon-Carriere, takes off for its first commercial flight at 4:06 on Saturday, the Italian new Vega rocket that after 9000 seconds of flight will hang at 700 km altitude three satellites intended in particular to the study of the environment.
At the moment there is nothing more advanced than Vega between the planet carrier rockets, there is nothing more efficient and economical to launch into orbit devices up to 1,500 kilograms, and in this mission even increased the share of italianità with the use of a guide system innovative. Moreover, the factory-wonder of Colleferro is a magnet for the brains of the world: it is there, 70 kilometers from Rome, who grew generations of technicians able to handle both tons of solid fuel (vega is the first stage of the block motor largest in the world) is tiny strands of carbon. The stages of Vega are in fact giant cocoons made with over 4,000 miles of filaments: those cylinders, which are placed one on top as tall as a 10-storey building, twice weigh less than steel and are four times more resistant. Each fuel burns at 3 thousand degrees, but outside (the wall of carbon fiber is only three centimeters thick) do not arrive more than 100.
launcher Vega, the flight Here are the details of the three satellites:
Proba V
Within the European institutional launches, Proba V is the first satellite put into orbit by Vega. E ‘was developed within the ESA for the study of terrestrial vegetation (V stands for Vegetation). On board the satellite there is a version of the reduced mass of the instruments currently on board the SPOT satellites, which provide daily a vision of global growth of vegetation on Earth. Proba V has a different instrumentation than its predecessors. This allows him to play at the same time an operational mission and experimental, designed to serve the community.
The aim is to keep the database updated and valid on the vegetation once the SPOT missions will be completed. The ESA Proba-V satellite was built by QinetiQ Space Belgium
Orbit: héliosynchrone at 820 km altitude with an inclination of 98.73 °
Launch mass: 160 kg

VNREDSat 1A
Satellite Vietnamese government, created in order to monitor and study the effects of climate change. Port aboard a technology able to prevent natural disasters and to optimize the management of natural resources. The VNREDSat is an optical satellite capable of capturing images with a resolution of 2.5 meters. Vega inject it as a “passenger secondary” synchronous orbit at 660 km (with an angle of 98.13 °).
VNREDSat-1 was built by Astrium on behalf of the Academy of Science and Technology of Vietnam.
Customer: Astrium to the Académie des Sciences et des Technologies du Vietnam.

Life: 5 years.
ESTCube-1
It ‘s the first satellite built in Estonia by students from Tartu University from the Estonian Aviation Ac ademy, the Tallinn University of Technology and the University of Life Sciences. The satellite was developed in collaboration with the Finnish Meteorological Institute and the German Space Center (DLR). Its main mission is to test the propulsive power of the solar sail, a new space propulsion technology that could revolutionize transport within the solar system. The project will also be used to build the infrastructure for future space projects in Estonia and space to train new engineers. The satellite is a CubeSat dimension of 10 x 10 x 10 cm and weighs 1.33 kg. ESTCube-1 was built by and for the University of Tartu, Estonia.
