BRUSSELS – A sort of “public consultation”. The EU Antitrust decided to submit to the parties concerned the measures proposed by Google to respond to the concerns of Brussels on abuse of a dominant position within the search engines. The outcome will have its own weight: the services of the EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia will take account in their analysis, and this will be positive if the remedies proposed by Google become binding on the company which will avoid such sanctions.

Antitrust European challenges to the Google abused its dominant position on the markets for internet search, contextual advertising and online advertising intermediation related to the research. Google has proposed to remedy these problems graphically tagging and reporting the results of research sponsored by this, so that users can distinguish them from others; displaying links to three specialized research services close to their competitors and in a visible way, by offering websites the opportunity to opt-out by specialized search services Google but without however touching the general ranking in search results.

In addition, Google plans to offer specialized sites to mark part of its information in such a way that they are not used by Google, to offer to the publishers of newspapers a mechanism with which to control

the information displayed page by page on Google News, and to cease advertising exclusivity agreements with Google and allow advertising campaigns on competing platforms. Interested parties now have a month to submit its comments on the proposed commitments in Brussels by Google.
