The virtual teleportation Microsoft and other technological innovations 4 – Bergamo Post

The technological research offers every week new inventions that can make our lives easier, including engineers who work for large companies and young people looking for funding on crowdfunding platforms. Here is the news announced in recent days.

1) Oombrella, the umbrella evolution

One of the few everyday objects that had never It had great evolution over time is definitely an umbrella, a simple and effective tool that has remained unchanged for decades. The new smart technologies, however, have improved the use of even such a simple object, creating Oombrella, a party project on Kickstarter and has already reached the necessary budget for its production. It is an umbrella equipped with sensors that connect to the smartphone, warning in case of notifications with a slight vibration and forecasts of upcoming weather changes. One of the most interesting features is that it lets through a series of sensors to measure temperature, pressure and humidity from anywhere, sharing information with the other owners of Oombrella and creating a data network in real time.

If you do not want to buy the entire umbrella, which costs 59 euro, you can also order a kit to mount the capsule containing all sensors on a normal umbrella at a cost of 29 Euros. Very curious also the housing at the top that allows you to mount a small camera to take or take photographs from an unusual location while walking in the rain.

2) The Microsoft Virtual Teleportation

The new episode of Star Wars is now out for several months but has rekindled many memories of the amazing technologies used by the protagonists of the films. One of the most attractive devices and representative of the saga could now become a reality, thanks to Microsoft’s work, which is working on a project for a sort of virtual teleportation.

It’s called Holoportation and will be able to bring up physically a person in a place far away, just like the best science fiction film. The technology is very advanced, able to capture 3D models of people and play them in very high quality. These models are then compressed and transmitted anywhere in the world in real time. Thanks to the support of viewers for augmented reality, as Hololens, so the models can come to life in a virtual space in front of our eyes, simulating in a realistic presence. No word yet on when it will be sold, but the premises are really very interesting.

3) One magic mirror to bid farewell to the balance

The fitness experts often remember not to focus too much on the numbers that the scale returns in the morning: there are many components that can change our weight and not all are negative force. The increase in muscle mass that replaces the fat may in fact increase the body weight but it is certainly not a sign of bad training or bad diet, since the body in front of the mirror will look more toned.

However, an alternative way to check your progress may be just to look at his reflection imagines, even better if you do it with a mirror can tell us how much and how our body has changed over time. Naked 3D Fitness Tracker is born with this order, which is to keep track of the changes that the body undergoes in time. It works using a scanner that, in about twenty seconds, detects changes had in the last period and is able to show through an app exactly what are the areas of our body where we are accumulating fat or where instead we are developing better the muscles. It will be available in March 2017 the figure is not indifferent to $ 499.

4) The charger that connects to the plants

The search for alternative energy sources is a of the biggest challenges that the man is facing in these decades, now convinced of the dangers of contaminants to the environment. Renewable energy sources are slowly catching on, but it is not yet clear what is really possible to replace oil with solar panels or wind turbines. Spain meanwhile, came a small but revolutionary device, able perhaps to blaze a trail for researchers.

Bioo Lite is a charger for smartphones that can connect to the plants, using the energy from them generated and accumulandone sufficient amounts and then pass it on to our mobile. It is based on the chemical process of photosynthesis and is still being finalized, although the campaign on Indiegogo has already far exceeded the budget required. The manufacturers state that Bioo Lite will be able to recharge a smartphone up to three times a day and may also operate at night due to the ability to accumulate energy during the day. The first models will be delivered in December this year at a cost of 100 Euros.

5) Helmet bike with LED for stop and Arrows

cycling enthusiasts are well aware how dangerous moving in city traffic: the streets are rarely equipped with tracks dedicated to bicycles and often the asphalt is in no better condition. Even though motorists have their problems in moving on the road when you are in front of one or more cyclists: a major difficulty lies for example in predicting the maneuvers of those who travel on two wheels. The cycles are not in fact provided with arrows and stop or even someone with good will (and not little risk of losing balance), try to signal their movements on the road, the situation is not the safest for both parties.

but from now on those who want to have extra help may purchase Lumos, a bicycle helmet equipped with lED lights that indicate the stop, thanks to the connection with an accelerometer that senses the movement of the cyclist. Also with the aid of two buttons accommodated on the handlebar and connected wirelessly with the helmet it is also possible to specify in advance the change of direction with the appropriate LED arrows. It is of course waterproof and you can charge it via USB, the declared autonomy is about 3 hours and the price starts from 145 €.
