Interview of the Director Blogo Tg1 Mario Orfeo
We published a few days ago the Focus listen on the budget 2014-2015 season (September 2014-July 2015) of the seven news of general networks with regard to the main editions. As we have seen is the Tg1 of 20 hours to be still the most followed of Italy with a share of 24.45%, but gave even more striking is the fact that he grew up with a point and a half compared to the previous season, only Tg dell’italico small screen. We spoke to the news director of RAI 1 Mario Orfeo of this, but also much more.
His Tg1, in particular the issue of the 20 hours, is the only one to earn the public than the other news of general networks. What do you think of this data?
E ‘because it is a very important recognition of the work we have done in bringing the Tg1 growth already in 2013, then in 2014, growth which it is consolidated in this season. For three years there is this trend after seven instead the TG1 lost year after year the public. A turnaround very strong, very significant that in my opinion should be attributed to the great work that he did the editing and technological developments, thanks to digitization.
How did he earn the public?
doing a newscast very rich, full, with all the main news. Speaking of the themes of our house, domestic policy, but also giving a lot of space to international economic issues and, unfortunately, of crisis and wars. Giving space to the costume intelligently, the evolution of Italian society and the events of culture and entertainment that are the pride of our country. I think also be told the Italian excellence and not only the things that do not fit.
Tg1 remains for many the news institutional, how it acts when it prepares than this ?
Institutional is a definition that I like a lot because it means to be above the parties, it means to be the benchmark for our listeners who are the majority of Italians. All this does not ever betraying what is our profession, telling that everything that happens without infigimenti and often also taking place through even the campaigns. We talked about companies that are closing, but also of start up and others open. Unfortunately we told the facts of the crime, but also a lot of white chronicle.
How important is the early evening than this?
The early evening it counts, but relatively. We have the legacy before the Tg1 20 for more than ten years. There were years when the TG1 has also lost, despite having the same tow.
Much has been made in this period of wiretapping and the use which can make media, what do you think?
I think the interception can be an essential tool for a certain type of investigation, I think especially in the investigation about the Mafia, the Camorra, which are evils ndrandegheta of our time that should be fought with all the tools and the intercepts are a useful tool to fight these diseases in our society. They go very well to fight another evil of our times: that corruption, bad that this affects a lot on costs of our economy. Of course there must be a wise use of wiretaps and I address this appeal above all to my category. Because as they are useful for the investigation of organized crime and corruption, so they can turn into barbarism when the intercepts that have no criminal relevance and instead of being binned and deleted are fed to the newspapers and I find this absolutely serious and intolerable.
What do you think of the use made of the hidden camera?
If you use it for good even the hidden camera can be useful information. If instead it is used to discredit people so constructed, artificial and misleading then no. The border is very unstable, I think it would take a great act of responsibility of journalists. We have seen programs that have made so many worthy campaigns, but also took the crabs sensational.
It ‘s easier to do the player or the coach?
I have done for so many years the player with the great coaches from whom I have learned to make even the coach. They are two different jobs, both fascinating, delicate and demanding.
She also directed the TG2, the Morning and the Messenger, that there are differences between these experiences in particular between the print media and television?
From the technical point of view there are many differences. If you do it with passion, commitment and professionalism and dedication in the end the two are equivalent. They are two sides of the same coin.
It has something new in mind for the next season of Tg1?
We look forward to September and if you say now would no longer news. There will be something new, because it is always important to be renewed every year, partly because there are hundreds of channels that will compete. There is now an offer that never happened and I must say that in this respect we are very pleased with our growth, because in the past it was said that it was losing the public about the proliferation of channels, well, we could also dispel this belief . And ‘well anyway always offer something new to the public also coming to surprise him.
For example to Unomattina does not believe it is appropriate to mix the best part of the network with that of TV news removing all that ritual of acronyms and made news more often repeated every half hour?
I must say that in the season just ended we have greatly strengthened the synergy with the network. There are only two conductors, one expressed by Tg1 that Franco Di Mare and the other network that is expressed by Francesca Fialdini. A couple that has had great success and was able to revive the program. Editions of the newscast is a window that opens Unomattina frequently on the program. The themes which are then recounted during editions of the newscast are then deepened in the study of Unomattina. I think that next year also there will be some news on Unomattina.
Type?
Starting from the couple to run confermatissima we will try to further open the horizons of the program with new themes, a story even wider Italy that changes, more depth, more space to issues affecting young people and not only the traditional public looking Unomattina.
If I tell Newsroom 1, what about?
I do not know
Thanks to the director of Tg1 and good luck for the future
