Microsoft may invest in Foursquare - Macity

Into Microsoft might decide to invest in Foursquare: the company is looking for investors and Redmond could be one of the choices

Microsoft and Foursquare are in “an advanced stage” of talks on an agreement that could lead to the Redmond company to decide for a strategic investment in geo-social networks. The news was first reported by Bloomberg, which specifies, however, that Foursquare is still finalizing specific talks with other investors and an agreement with Microsoft is currently not insured. The rumors comes the day after the publication by a new Foursquare app developed for Windows 8, is also optimized for use on tablets.Into Strategic investments are not uncommon for the Redmond company, which has for example recently invested $ 300 million in shares in respect of the units of Barnes & Noble Nook and in the past has committed itself economically also against Facebook. According to Bloomberg the interest from investors in Foursquare would be mainly due to the advertising model adopted by the company Foursquare, with the ability for advertisers to identify potential users an d customers using check-ins at a specific site.

Into Unlike other start-up, able to capitalize more effectively after the initial boom, Foursquare has never been able to make “the leap” and bring its spread to higher levels, accumulating over the past several years debts and continue looking for investors willing to support the company’s business from the economic point of view, mitigating losses and continuing on the path of innovation. For the moment, Foursquare and Microsoft have not commented on the news from Bloomberg.
