NEW YORK – Land Rover has presented in New York on Discovery Vision concept, an anticipation of the next generation of British SUV, expected in 2015. Better: an anticipation of quellache become a new family of sports utility after 25 years of Discovery.

Spectacular presentation, which took place the day before the opening of the Auto Show in the Big Apple, aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, next to a 1:1 scale model of the spacecraft of Virgin Galactic, the first company able to arrange flights aerospace for common passengers.

Avant-garde techniques and styles. A preview of the new lines have been shown to illustrate the design and massive doses of innovation linked to advanced technologies, the work the research and development division of the group Jaguar-Land Rover. The result, which is the first product series which will arrive within a year, will be the Discovery Sport, then it’s up to other models in the range. What will stand out? SUVs will be more “intelligent”, better connected, especially really able to move on any terrain, off-road asphalt. Among the many new advance, there is in fact also the new generation Terrain Response, projected on a futuristic solutions, such as automatic driving in extreme conditions. No revelation, however, has been done for now in terms of engines.

revolution dell’offroad. Named All-Terrain Progress Control, the system experienced the concept Vision Discovery allows a semi-autonomous offroad driving at constant speed, on different terrains, including river crossings. Among the many new features, the system stands Transparent Bonnet Head-up Display, a heck offering an unobstructed view of obstacles of the ground ahead of the vehicle, significantly improving the ability of the driver. In practice, some cameras placed under the broiler are matched to the Head Up Display integrated into the windshield: a crossing difficult terrain images are projected on the glass, giving the impression that the hood of the vehicle is, in fact, transparent .

laser at the service of the SUV. The Terrain Scanning is the other extraordinary new technology-proven concept English to enhance their ability to move on rough terrain and unknown. It employs infrared laser emitted by the lamps to continuously scan the ground and trace a map of the contours on the high-definition screen of the dashboard. This mapping is compared with the guidance system All-Terrain Coach to chart a course and assist the pilot to follow it. If that were not enough, the system Wade Sensor makes use of lasers to measure the depth of water even before you enter the vehicle and informs the driver if the maneuver of crossing is possible. Again, railroad crossings particularly close is facilitated by the assistance Laser Referencing, which projects on the ground signals, symbols and images.

Extreme Off-Road automatically. We talk to time, for safe driving, the “automatic pilot” of aviation-inspired. Many experiments are underway, with outposts in the house Mercedes and Nissan, while almost all of them have made great strides with the park-assist systems. But now there is something new even in the off-road industry: the Vision Concept Discovery in fact adopts the Remote Control Drive, another revolutionary system that allows the pilot to maneuver the vehicle without getting on board, provided at very low speed. It ‘a very useful feature in some situations on and off from a simple coupling of a trailer control of the vehicle from the outside, in a condition of extreme offroad.

Renewed style and versatility to top. Externally the SUV of the future is characterized by an innovative design, which distances itself from the solutions always updated but traditional handyman Land Rover vehicle. Confirmed in full, however, attention to the versatility and elegance of the interior, in perfect British style. The original system configuration sessions: folding seats and sliding them forward or backward through the central touch screen, the vehicle can change the arrangement from seven seats to six, but also a five-or four-style limousine. In addition, removable trolley are integrated into the doors (with folding), while the accessories included in the backs of the seats offer maximum convenience to the passengers seated behind. The tailgate is in one piece and opens and closes with a motorized system. The step back is able to accommodate a rack or ski rack. The wood paneling on the panels and floors, and custom accessories covered in tweed help to create the classic English elegance, but practicality and versatility are insured by the materials used for the interior, the interior lined with two leather quality washable and waterproof water and oil, cleanable in seconds.

Technology for passengers. On board the Discovery of the solutions proposed by future technologies HMI (human / machine interface next generation) will create a rich and immersive multimedia experience for all passengers, including the ability to talk to each other on video, thanks to the infotainment screens in the seats. The Smart Glass enriches the entire glazing of the vehicle while the so-called Gesture Control controls the various functions, including those of the doors, the direction indicators, headlights and screens in the back seats. Remains to be seen how many of these innovations will be applied to those products in 2015 will become standard. But in the meantime there are plenty of reasons to be satisfied at the summit of the British-owned Indian.

The optimism of management. Wolfgang Epple, Head of Research and Development at Jaguar Land Rover , has expressed his apprezzamto for the work done by the designers. “The Concept Discovery Vision – said – reveals where the SUV might come in the future with innovative technologies and Jaguar Land Rover with a modern design.
