TERMOLI. According to the data provided by the Ministry of the Interior before the summer, they are average 30,000, in Italy, women who annually report a man for abuses of various kinds : violence, stalking, harassment psychological and economic. An impressive number when you consider the submerged. The latter is the most disturbing, a little ‘because it betrays a masculine culture of abuse that in spite of social and technological seems steel, but also because it reveals still a strong element of ignorance in the sense of the word . Women who do not know how to defend themselves and above all do not consider that the law, the state and a number of civil organizations in the world are on their side, ready to help.
To do so, A group of professionals engaged in the fight against violence suffered by women and children – thanks to an idea of Alessia Sorgato, the criminal vittimologa author of “Hands off Women” – has recently opened a Facebook page aptly named “Women who learn to defend themselves.” An open door for all those who are experiencing a dramatic situation of systematic abuses, they want to understand how to get out, in a legal way.
“After a twenty years of professional experience – says Alessia Sorgato – “ along with some friends, psychologists and social workers, I decided to found this ‘community’, with the intention of spreading a culture of dignity, and the right of deliverance from any type of abuse . The biggest enemy of a woman who suffers in silence is the fear of talking about it and to recognize that this problem is not resolved never alone. This is the spirit of our community: instilling knowledge and courage. Anyone who wants to have a board or to know how to defend itself , producing objective evidence in spite of the classic ‘My word against yours’, can write without any obligation . Just to start thinking on the basis of qualified information. We will respond to all, using the extensive know-how we have accumulated addressing the most diverse situations. Asking can be the beginning of a path that leads to freedom and the recapture of that dignity and those values that should be the basis of life of every human being. “
