By the Emilia-Romagna 22 million for companies and researchers – The Republic

BOLOGNA – Twenty-two million euro to be allocated to 600 young people, mostly researchers, and 3 thousand companies. These are the figures of the plan of action put in place by the Region thanks to EU funds to support higher education and, therefore, not be left behind in terms of innovation. A complex project and spread over several years, which should involve both the academic world as that business. And it promises to establish the region Academy university they are true excellence throughout the world.

The premise is simple. “If we want to compete with the more advanced regions – says the president Stefano Bonaccini – we need to focus on quality.” In particular, explanatory Viale Aldo Moro, you have to do “that leap, in terms of specialization, internationalization and digitization necessary to compete globally.” Having said that, at least on paper. Last year, the Region has launched the “three-year high skills for research plan, technology transfer and entrepreneurship.” And the package of measures presented yesterday by Bonaccini and its commissioner for Education, school and work, Patrizio Bianchi, represents a first implementation.

So let’s see them in detail, these interventions. The first installment focuses on ‘ digital economy , and goes to train human resources in the field of big data, 4.0 and e-commerce industry. In total it comes to ten million divided equally on two calls. The first is already out (the deadline is May 3) and focuses on doctorates and research grants, master and academy. These last, however, they represent one of the most important news of the plan. Of certain details, at the time, there are none, but the assumptions on which they work in the Region has already drawn: each of the four universities should develop a hyper-specializing school to serve as a catalyst of local skills. Centers of excellence, for their respective areas (for the moment it is thought to food security in Parma and motors for Unimore), should become true reference points at the national level (and not only).

It does not end here. The High Skills Plan provides for two other strands. The first will start on Monday and will be dedicated to the Training “continues” to 7 thousand entrepreneurs

and key figures in the company, always with a view to digitization, internationalization and sustainable development. While the last intervention, which puts forward the remaining EUR 2.5 million, is scheduled for next year and focuses on strengthening the competitive capabilities of companies through supercomputing and big data , but also on advanced materials and innovative production systems, genomics and regenerative medicine.
